---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a highly scaled down and simplified version of Alteimus’s Alternate Mode, an A4-X Starbomber. Mostly designed to give you some impression of what it looks like, as I didn’t really feel much like spending another Six Months going back and forth between the designs scrutinizing and copying the exact detail again onto the Alt Mode. Besides the fact that I don’t often find designing the Vehicles as interesting as the Robot Forms, but I do love writing up specs for them.
This also a chance to demonstrate another ability Transtech period Transformers possess...
HOLOFLAGE
This is a basic and common technology in the post Generation 2 Period. Utilized by both Decepticons and Autobots, Holoflage allows a Transformer to throw up an armour tight field around them that effectively mimics the colour composition of the surrounding terrain, or adjusted to an individual Transformer’s personal settings. This is a useful device for helping an otherwise noticeable Giant Alien Robot, blend in more with objects around it in either Robot or Alt Mode. Some Espionage Units have developed a transparent scheme along with their cloaking abilities to better enhance their stealth.
Whilst this process can be accomplished more effectively by Nanotics, it is generally a much faster process by this method, although the field is often rendered ineffective when a Transformer is underwater.
Some Back story and History behind the Alternate Mode in question...
The original A4-X (Also known by the nickname ‘The Delta Dragonfly’) was developed during an early Human Colonial War somewhere during the beginnings of the Generation 4 Period.
The Bomber was the fourth model after three previous, and was designed not long after when it’s manufacturer ‘Asimov Industries’ merged with it’s rival ‘SIC’ (Strato Industrial Corp).
This merger proved beneficial for the two former competitors who combined their advanced technologies to create a space going vessel that would later go on to claim a historical status.
The A4-X was built in mind to have all round supremacy. Not only was it armed with powerful cannons mounted underneath its fuselage, retractable gun ports were placed on either side above and beneath, and rear mounted Plasma Machine Guns provide the perfect deterrent to sneak attacks. Extra-Smart Bombs and various other projectile weapons could be safely stored and transported to their targets to be launched with exact precision.
Not only armed with this impressive array of weaponry, the engineers from ‘SIC’ designed a maneuvering system that allowed the Bomber to move almost effortlessly in all directions with quick bursts of speed, a system that put it light years beyond other Bombers of that period.
Equipped with a detachable Escape Module and could be operated by a minimum crew of three, the first commissioned A4-X rolled of the assembly line at the height of one of the Wars bloodiest conflicts, the Cambriya Asteroid Belt Crisis.
Thanks to its ability to compress its size, the Bomber could easily be transported in Carriers containing up to two dozen, the exact number that first went into combat during Cambriya. The results of its performance were astounding, as all but three of the dispatched Bombers returned from successfully driving the enemy from their outposts, allowing the Asteroid Belt to be reclaimed easily. The A4-X was hailed for single-handedly turning the entire War around, and within a few months peace was achieved. However this signaled the end of the A4-X’s short carrier in military warfare, as an arms decommission was soon put into effect. Only Sixty A4-Xs existed by then, due to their huge cost to construct and maintain.
By the end of the decommissioning only a dozen or so remained, either for display in Spacecraft Museums or brought by collectors. One eccentric reclusive however, was known to have personally modified one into a private yacht.
To this day, whilst now outclassed by smaller and faster models, the A4-X is still highly regarded as a classic amongst Spacecraft Fanatics.
It was to the newly awakened Alteimus Prime’s fortune, that the long abandoned remains of one was nearby for him to scan and modify his form too, giving him the benefits of the original models well designed layout, combined with his own modifications.
The main drawback to the original A4-X was whilst it was considered unmatched in it’s maneuverability; it could only maintain this ability in the vacuum of Space. This was mostly due to the fact that in order to install most of its special features the technicians had to discard atmospheric jet ports that allowed a craft considerable maneuverability on a planets surface, and thus an A4-X had to be refitted along with it’s heavy armour plating being removed in order to operate at serviceable performance under atmospheric conditions. Alteimus’s version however, thanks to advanced Cybertronian Technology, was able to compensate for this allowing it to operate effectively in both space and within planetary atmosphere. The addition of Scramble Boosters combined with the stronger but lighter Cytanite Alloy also enabled fast bursts of speed that the original would have found impossible to reach.
Another disadvantage in the original was that in order to power its huge array of weapons and maneuvering rockets, the A4-X required two duel linked Power Cores. An addition that jacked it up to the cost of two regular Spacebombers. Once again Alteimus’s compensated this through using his own internal Power Generation Units to increase the performance. One final ability that Alteimus possesses that the original A4-X never had was the ability to utilize a Sublightspace Trans-Drive in order to travel vast distances of space in just a few minutes.
Despite these impressive innovations from two completely different civilizations, will it all be enough to aid Alteimus Prime’s fight against the New Decepticon Empire? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure, the A4-X has fully cemented its place in history...

Gorgeous alt mode. Not too sure I'm keen on the robot mode art, but this is quite pretty. The holoflage reminds of patterns and bands on the JAM aircraft in the OVA "Yukikaze".
Fantastic write up on the spacecraft. :>

Prettiness is not really one of the main factors on my designs for the robot modes. But thanks for the comment anyway.
