## Military Operational Study

The goal is to defend the port in City B for ten (10) days. What will you do as the commander of the Blue side in the following case? (Note: Circles around the Artillery Regiments indicate range.)

## Situation

- Two Black Armies sit 50 kilometres from a major metropolis (City B).

- Reinforcements arrive at the **port** on day 10 turning the situation overwhelming in favour of Blue.

- The goal of the Black Force is to capture the eastern bank of the city, including the **port** by day 7. (i.e. 10 kilometre advance/day + 2 days to capture the port)

- The port is considered unusable if it is within range of at least 3 artillery regiments.

- Both forces are professionally trained.
- Arrows indicate supply direction.

- Black does not have reinforcements.

## Considerations

### Blue Side

- In home territory, can expect local population support.

- If there are at least 5 relatively strong (at least 75% of full strength) formations at City B when the Black force reaches the outskirts, 5 Brigades of rifle will appear throughout the metropolis simulating drafted civilians.

- The forest paths start unknown to the Black Force,

- Once an exit has been used (entered or exited), that particular exit will become visible.

- Supply situation is optimal, all units are coming in with full supply, and will continue to be supplied.

### Black Side

- At the proposed rate of advance, Black will outrun supply train on day 6.

- If the advance is slower, Black will maintain adequate supply conditions for two major engagements per army.

- Major supply depot has been established on the North-Western part of City A.

- Up to three (3) infantry divisions will be retained by the Black commander to guard City A.
