You can't tell between the two anyway (probably the tattoo on Mion's back) but people get confused on who's Shion and Mion (like that one episode... I swear. I didn't know who was who in the first place xD).

Well, I can tell by their voice, if it's normal, and the way they act. Mion, from the very first episode, I could never imagine her being a psycho for some reason; even if they made her look like it. When Shion first yelled at those biker guys, I could tell she can be one kick-butt girl. So, it confused me too, but I knew, for a fact, that the evil one wasn't Mion xD

But then they explained it later in the story, so I kind of get it now. In conclusion, SHION IS THE CRAZY ONE OF THE TWO.. <-- LOL. Its SHION. :'D

Yeah, Shion escaped from her school and stayed at Hinimazawa. Mion lets Shion dress as her so she can do some shopping without being caught in the village.
And yeah, in the novel or something, Shion screams at Mion, saying 'GIVE BACK MION, SHION!!" or something like that. I just read that somewhere xD
