I drew this for one of my closest friends and I really hope it makes her smile. She inspired it with her words and ideas and spirit. I'm going to order her a huge print for her wall to show my eternal gratitude.
I was trying to capture that moment when someone suddenly appears in your field of vision and you can really only see their silhouette because your eyes haven't dark-adapted yet. That kind of mysterious, disorienting feeling when you want to see more, but your eyes just won't let you.
I made this in oc and photoshop, mostly photoshop though. Making it so that I could have a print was the most challenging. I was working w/o a ref so that I wouldn't have to deal with getting clearance for a reference photo. And I was working on it spliced into pieces in separate .psds, head in one file, hands in another, etc, since my computer was lagging when I tried to work on it all in one canvas. This piece took a lot of tinkering, to get the peices to configure back together and to get the anatomy right.

Like when I saw "Neverending Story" movie when I was a little kid. The ending where the world had collapsed, and the princess hold this tiny little piece of hope in her hands, and the (main character) was the only one who could keep this magnificent world alive.
Totally awesome lighting and this single frame ecxeeds my childhood favorite movie.

Thank you! I was hoping it had a mythical kind of feel to it. I had to look up the Paris story just now though, hehe. I really should read more mythology, it seems full of inspiring themes.
