Description I finished this up yesterday just so I could use it for my devid and header at Raster. Before that, it had been sitting in my graveyard of unfinished projects since July of last year. I think this is about a 50-50 mix of Opencanvas and Photoshop.

here's the photo ref [link]

and here's a little closeup for * jakub-sudra [link] that's the full-size for the face.

"and here's a little closeup for * jakub-sudra" hehe, that got me a fev pageviews . It's an honour.
Yeah, it's meloraish a lot. Esp. the face with dark eyes and even the hair like that. The closeup surprised me with the eyes quite blurry, a very painterly effect. I like tha fact that you mix different colours (and yeah, it looks like done with OC).
As for the image itself, I like the hands and that's because I'm a sucker for outlines.
I wish I was better with critique, but I can't find anything smart to say.

As for meagan-not-so-closeup those big areas of flat highlight surprised me. Maybe they are a bit too flat, but I'm no expert. I like how simple the lips were painted. And apart from the not-so-closeup, I liked the skirt.

[ I've been browsing through my works and I found one that reminded me (a tad) of yours. Maybe mainly because it was made in OC. With a more unified colour scheme than your works and without bold outlines. I wonder how you'd paint it or how I'd paint it now, since it's been done almost 2 years ago. It presents Steven Hyde of "That '70s Show". [link] ]

Hmm... what do you use photoshop for? It doesn't show, not 50%, at least. Maybe the closeup shows a little of softening and the more stronger shadows, but not too much (melora would throw in some textures ).

The closeups really show how lazy I can be sometimes. When I know the final size is going to be really small, I don't put the detail in. I like to work big so my hand doesn't cramp up trying to get the shapes right. I only put hte detail if I'm going to make a print, since it shows. I'm like the opposite of enayla, where you can zoom in on her closeups and find more and more detail. I wish I had her kind of work ethic (and skill, if we are being honest).

Your Steven Hyde piece is cool. I like that colorscheme a lot, it gives the piece a graphic feel that works really well. It is interesting looking at older pieces and wondering what decisions the artist would make now, if they were doing it again.

I use photoshop for refining and correcting and working small areas like facial features and hands. This is what it looked like straight out of oc, before photoshop [link] and this is the megan one [link]

Apart from the hands the changes don't look too big, and nothing that couldn't be done in OC (heh, I remember my really old days when I used the 'dodge' tool for highlights in Photoshop ).
It does show more on meagan, but still not out od OC's reach. That's why I asked. I never considered Photoshop as a good painting program (apart from the times I was staring at some unbelievable photoshop pieces, the mentioned Enayla's an example). All the brushes are too... digital or something. they don't mix nicely. While, let's say, Painter gives more variation and effects you can't get anywhere else. And OC still has a different feel and I liked it for realistic paintings. Choosing which one to use has always been a thrilling struggle for me. Everyone has to make a choice, and yours was obviously good, looking at the results.
I use mainly Painter now, partly for the variety. I'm wondering, because your style is great looking and original and there are many artists whith their unique styles, but isn't more variety something more developing? And I don't know really - that's like saying "Hey, Picasso, give cubism a brake!". Or maybe I'm thinking too much. I hope I'll get some answers at art academy .

So you've used a picture of Ines Sastre for the pose... Mmmm... I wonder what she'd say about the result.

Beautiful and very interesting.

it's perfect..the colors are phenomenal...
and i adore the way you do detailing on your pieces.
it's like not only do you have a way with colors and shading...
you have a way with lines and shape. beautiful piece darling.

i looked at the reference you linked. is it easier to draw after reference when it comes to "where to draw shadow/light" anyway nobody draws light. but everyone draws around it to make it visible!

the style you do is very interesting. even on the parts where the picture is not so detailed (ex. the skirt) it seems to be very harmonic and ready. i really would like to see more close ups to learn from the way you draw skin-shades.
