I take a texture image and import it to an extra layer. The setting of the layer is set to either Multiply or Color Burn, and I play around with the Brightness&Contrast and Opacity, until I get something that looks good enough.

I just search in Google and deviantart for textures. Normally I use paper or scratch textures.
