It's been a year since I first drew the original version. I wanted to see how much I improved. I feel like I developed quite a bit, but I still have a long way to go. I'll continue to work hard!

I remember watching the speedpaint on Youtube and I was like "Woah !". You were among the artists who inspired me to become a digital artist. For me, the new version looks kinda..umm...stuffed. The old one reminds me of the illustrations you would see in a music album, it's well balanced and very elegant.

It was just an interesting design choice I made, considering the way the song speaks about rain and umbrellas and such.

They're both really pretty, but most of us prefer the older version to the newer. I like in your newer style that the forms are more defined and there's more contrast and depth to your shading. What we like from the first one is that it looks more realistic in the placement of the hair, the flowing of the clothes and the swirl of sparkles is featured more and it looks like your own original style. I really love the hands in the original. There's too much going on in the details of the second piece with the details of the hair, wrinkles of clothing and the mixed perspective; you seem to be viewing her straight on when looking at the face and torso, but the bottom half appears to be viewed from a slight worm's-eye view. The placement of the microphone and the glow also makes the picture harder to understand conceptually. As you keep practicing, you should how to apply economy to your work because more detail isn't always better. And it's hard to tell that the character is supposed to be Luka when the only detail defining them is the headband. It helps your viewers who know the character in their standard outfits, but might not know the specific song from the title. This doesn't apply to just Vocaloid, so watch out for it. Ah! Done with being harsh, sorry!!! β§^β¦ Anyways, you definitely are improving! I really like the crisper background with detailed clouds, the folds in the clothes are more realistic and there's more contrast in the coloring. I also like how you're coloring your line art so they don't stand out as much. Good job! Sorry if you weren't looking for a full out critique, but everyone was just saying that they liked the first one more, so I thought I'd give you my opinion on why to help you out. I hope it did!!! : D

This is very pretty. Both pictures are really different!
The second one is very sharp and chaotic. The art style also is a lot more developed and shows more confidence (my goodness the hair! <3), but the first one's composition and raw emotion wins me over a bit more. I know that's the most annoying thing to hear. ;;
The inspiration might have been stronger when you drew the first one, hence the idea coming across better and powerfully.
I think they are great separately, though! In the first one, it's like she's holding back, but in the second one, she lets go.

it is amazing to see such in improvement in just a year!! i love the bigger hair and the increased depth to the background.
the improved shading makes the picture seem more real than the previous one.
the second picture definitely brings more emotion, which is what i find the best in art.

And your newer one looks much more colorful and candyy-like and yu did a magnificent job on the rain; it looks veryy realistic.

The first one is actually much better..It's coloured well and is nice and simple and the anatomy isn't that bad. You worked too much on this latest one, as if you were trying hard to force an improvement.

Better shading and lightning, but the saturation of colors in the recent one makes him flat and unpleasant to see, in fact her face just look like an hair part. You didn't loose the grip, you just loose the focus.
