There's a rule amongst Dutch zoos that determines some species need to disappear completely, because these animals might pose a threat to native wildlife if they were to escape.
This has happened in the past, so it's sort of understandable but it does mean that these guys are slowly but surely disappearing.
In fact, this guy has passed away early in 2023 and he's not being replaced.
