Hi Guys!
Gosh....real long time since last post, but I thought I should put this up for those who are suffering the same issue with Wacom tablets and paint tool Sai.
Issue: I recently bought an intuos 5 to replace my old previous graphics tablet. I installed the intuos 5 with seemingly no troubles at all. It worked on photoshop just great, but as soon as I tried it on paint tool sai, it resulted in terribly lagging flat lines, with no pressure whatsoever. I thought that it might need an up-to-date driver so I d/l that from the wacom site and installed it - still with no luck. I removed the file utility preferences and still nothing. I figured i'd give up on using paint tool sai forever until I found this post:
Solution: "Unplug the tablet, uninstall the drivers and restart Windows. Go to device manager and remove any remaining Wacom entries there from the HID and Mice sections. Also remove remaining files wintab*.* from SYSTEM32 and SYSWOW64 as well as any wacom_tablet.dat or pen_tablet.dat files, which may still exist on the machine. Then attach the tablet to a USB port in the back of the machine. Verify that it works as mouse device. Then log in with an admin user account, download and install the latest driver. Open the tablet properties panel, set the doubleclick distance to minimum, then go to pen -> projection and disable the option to 'use Windows Ink'. That should avoid the various Windows effects causing lags." Taken from the Wacom Forum Link Here
And sure enough it worked!!! I think the main reason it wasn't working before was because it remembered my old tablet and didn't recognise the new one installed. Once I found the wacom_tablet.dat or pen_tablet.dat files and deleted them - it worked like a charm !!

It's more of an issue on the SAI side. My pen buttons do not work in SAI but do work in Photoshop. I had talked with a staff member at Wacom and they said that there are issues with some Wacom intuos tablets and SAI that they are currently trying to fix.

Most of the setting work in SAI. It's just re-programming the pen buttons.

Any idea as to where to find the .dat files? Like, in what folder? Because it's taking forever to find looking in C.

So i've been usin SAI for a while and recently for some reason i've started getting insane cursor lag in SAI. When i start the app and draw for about 5 minutes it's ok, even with stabilizer set to 15 the cursor is extremely responsive and there's just a tiny bit of delay to it, because of the stabilizer. Then suddenly it starts laggina more and more behind and 5 minutes later i find my cursor lagging SEVERAL SECONDS behind my actions! This issue is exclusive to SAI only and it seems to go away if i reinstall drivers, BUT only untill i reboot my pc, then the issue comes back.
I'm gonna be trying this fix some time later and see if it works.

I'm having the same laggy problem to and I really want to use my new Intuos Medium tablet. But the solution sounds very complicated written in text and all and I'm afraid to mess my computer up when I make a tiny mistake.
I need help quickly or I have to still use my Bamboo tablet which is already acting up for it's age hehe

im actually having that problem too, i recently gotten an intuos tablet like a weekago and everything was working fine untill after i installed the new driver then here comes this major lag in sai, it felt like i was almost on the stabilizer s-7 to the extreme, i restarted my computer, uninstall wamcom and still nothing happen :/ so im wondering if its just sai or my tablet, because it works perfectly on photoshop and regular paint but on sai, its impossible for me to sketch because it feels like its on a stablizer but its not :/ help please TT^TT

Did you find a solution to this problem? because it's exactly the same for me. My tablet works fine in everything but Sai after the new driver. It will work for a second but when I touch the tablet to zoom in or adjust the brush size, it will get all slow.

Mines was like it's okay for the first few minutes and then it gets harder and harder to the point that it's so stiff that it hurts my hand to draw. It wasn't like this two days ago and sadly my only resort was to reboot my computer and see if that worked or to re install paint tool sai. Everyone's else suggestion wasn't working for me. I'm using a Asus pc. Windows 8. It could be the driver too. Wacom needs to fix that

I think that's because of the new update of the wacom driver or something, because I just did it yesterday and today that's exactly what happens to me, I think I should restore my PC, maybe that would work.

look at the recent comments, a user posted a link to the older drivers before the new one. that should help

Same !!!nothings happening ..but I kinda got adjusted it and worked my way around it , download sketchbook pro ( if you have an Intuos tablet ) , do the sketch in that program and just do the line work and colors in sai before the lags start. I've also noticed that it lags as soon as you move the pen from the tablet as your drawing , so your gonna have to be very still while drawing. It sucks Dx

I notice that too, but I actually manage to fix it yesterday
So all I do is
1. Using Iobit Uninstaller (free online) to uninstall the driver, then running the scan function to search for any leftover files and delete it.
2. Restart, then use CCleaner to delete junk files on my computer and registry.
3. Go to registry by typing "regedit.exe" to the Start menu, (do a back up if needed because registry is the heart of Windows, one mistake can make the whole operating system malfunction, I don't because it just a simple task). Then choose HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Right click on "Wacom" and choose delete.
4. Right click on "My computer" -> Properties -> Device Manager ( on the left) -> Human Interface Device -> Double click on "Wacom" -> Driver (on top) -> Uninstall
5. Go to (C -> Windows -> System32 -> Search for ANY Wacom or Pen files and delete it.
6. Use Smart Defrag 4 (also free online) to defragmenting all my hard drives to improve system performance, you can also use the defragment function of Windows by right click on your hard drive (C, (D
etc -> Tools -> Defragment Now...
7. Uninstall any programs that are unnecessary or not frequently used to free some space if you have many programs
8. Use Malware Bytes (free) to run a full scan to see if there are any malwares/viruses
9. Restart and turn off EVERY running applications, including the minimized ones on the bottom left of your taskbar. Then disconnected from the internet and use the CD that come along with your tablet or download an older version from Wacom sites, install as instructed and restart again. I think it worked well for me
I also use Advanced System Care to monitoring RAM usage so if it goes over 70%, I can clean it to help the computer running smoothly, as I see if RAM usage are over 85% it would more likely to be lagging

My SAI just flat out isn't opening. It doesn't even respond. It loads for a bit, and then acts like I'd never tried to open it. There are no error notifications and no windows come up. It just doesn't work. :c
This is only after I installed my tablet. The first tablet that has been installed on this computer too. :ccccc

This happened to me just recently. Just right click on the program and click troubleshoot compatibility. Follow the steps and it'll start to run a compatibility test. When it loads, click next and save the the configuration.

I had an issue with my new Intuos (which I got after my Bamboo was stolen) where the pen would refuse to move the cursor down past the point where the mouse left it. After deleting those troublesome files you mentioned, the problem went away! Hurray!
Next time I will remember to clear up all the old stuff first before installing the new goodies. Thanks for posting this, much appreciated!

Works fine on Intuos pro too with this. Every program says to uninstall old drivers and stuff when you update, think Wacom should too tbh. Because it's quite standard yet something you dont think of! Thank you for great help!
