Hi Guys!
Gosh....real long time since last post, but I thought I should put this up for those who are suffering the same issue with Wacom tablets and paint tool Sai.
Issue: I recently bought an intuos 5 to replace my old previous graphics tablet. I installed the intuos 5 with seemingly no troubles at all. It worked on photoshop just great, but as soon as I tried it on paint tool sai, it resulted in terribly lagging flat lines, with no pressure whatsoever. I thought that it might need an up-to-date driver so I d/l that from the wacom site and installed it - still with no luck. I removed the file utility preferences and still nothing. I figured i'd give up on using paint tool sai forever until I found this post:
Solution: "Unplug the tablet, uninstall the drivers and restart Windows. Go to device manager and remove any remaining Wacom entries there from the HID and Mice sections. Also remove remaining files wintab*.* from SYSTEM32 and SYSWOW64 as well as any wacom_tablet.dat or pen_tablet.dat files, which may still exist on the machine. Then attach the tablet to a USB port in the back of the machine. Verify that it works as mouse device. Then log in with an admin user account, download and install the latest driver. Open the tablet properties panel, set the doubleclick distance to minimum, then go to pen -> projection and disable the option to 'use Windows Ink'. That should avoid the various Windows effects causing lags." Taken from the Wacom Forum Link Here
And sure enough it worked!!! I think the main reason it wasn't working before was because it remembered my old tablet and didn't recognise the new one installed. Once I found the wacom_tablet.dat or pen_tablet.dat files and deleted them - it worked like a charm !!

I think you may have saved my working sanity and I thank you for this!
I had this problem with my Bamboo Pen and Touch. Everything was fine with PS, till i installed SAI as well. After that, SAI worked just fine, but PS just couldn't handle pressure strokes.
I followed your directions as best as I could tell, I re-installed the tablet and now it seems to work fine with both programs.
One thing I did change was in: Tablet Preferences>> Pen>>Tracking>>Pen Mode. It was on Mouse Mode before because it worked at a faster pace and it suited me on PS.
Now, hopefully, everything will be better.
Thank you so muuch~

Where did you find "Tablet Preferences"? I've been looking all over, but apparently I'm blind as a bat, 'cause I can't find it :I

Mine doesn't switch layers, I think it may be because the Intuos pro is more designed to work with Photoshop?

GAAAAAAHHHH! I tried to do what you said but I couldn't do most of it. I just go a new Intuos (normal one) because the last one I got was way too big but it had the perfect pressure. Once I tried the new one the there was no pressure on the lines and I've been trying peoples' advice but they just can't work! .... Anyway is there some other way I can fix my lines' pressure? ***IN NEED OF HELP!!!!!!!***

Okay, my major reason It wasn't working is because it remembered my old Wacom tablet and couldn't recognize the new one. go to C drive and type in the search: wacom_tablet.dat and delete any existing files. Also search for pen_tablet.dat files and delete it. Mine started working from then on.
Is there anything else you couldn't do otherwise?

Nevermind, I fixed that problem. Now the problem is: I did what you said, but now my tablet won't work on sai at all. Literally when I open sai, my pen won't work as a curser and it won't draw.

I know you commented this a long time ago, but did you ever find a solution? Mine will only work as a cursor in Sai as well.

I recieved an Intuos Tablet (Just "Intuos" not "Intuos 5 or 4") for my birthday from my Bf, because my Bamboo Fun Tablet was starting to go on the fritz. I installed the Intuos and tried opening up SAI to make sure the new tablet was working right, and much to my horror, SAI wouldnt open up, at all. Ive tried restarting the computer, reinstalling both the Intuos and SAI, and I cant figure out why it isnt working... Ive tried looking up solutions online but no luck there..
This has been going on for about a week now and I am dying of drawing-loss here... Im at a loss, and the only thing I can think of as the problem is the fact that im useing f***ing Windows 8...
Im going to test my luck with your solution.. Heres to hopeing it'll work..

Ok so Ive fixed the problem (Although I dont know EXACTLY what the problem was :/..)
I uninstalled SAI, the Intuos Tablet, and my Bamboo Fun Tablet. Then shut down my computer for little bit out of frustration. While I was cooling off, a thought crossed my mind: "If SAI isnt opening on my laptop, I wonder if it will open for my home computer?..."
So I installed it on my home computer, then opened it, and EUREKA! it worked! So I copied the SAI folder files to a USB stick, then transfered them to my laptop.
IT WORKED! It opened like normal again! I was so ecstatic! Then I installed ONLY my Intuos.
I restarted my laptop, then opened SAI to test if it worked with the Intuos, and it all worked!
I honeslty dont know what the exact problem was, or what the exact solution was, but thats what I did so- ..

Awesome! My guess it was it had to do with telling your laptop that you have a new intuos tablet installed and to forget your old bamboo - which it still remembers and was configured to.
Regardless though that's great! Good way to start the holidays xD! Season greetings~!

YOU
HAVE
SAVED
MY
LIFE
I started CRYING when it FINALLY worked.
You see, my Intuos5 recently broke... I used it so much that something on the inside fried. ;-; So, I FINALLY saved up to get a new one...
Well, I didn't know I had an Intuos5, I never paid attention, so I just grabbed an Intuos Pro and dashed outta the store, it was the last one!
Anyways, I got home and it was TERRIBLE.
Like, it was glitching all over Sai, I couldn't draw, and my pencil wouldn't work.
I felt sick, we had to spend TWO HOURS just to find the dang store!
Then when we FINALLY gotten home, I opened the bad boy up and bam, my stomach's gone.
'Oh well!' I thought. 'It'll be the same! Ahahahaha!!'
NOPE.
Another FIVE hours later and I'm here-
Did everything you said and now it works.
You have literally saved me from falling in a black hole.
THANK YOU~

Oh wow no problem!! Glad it worked !!
I thought someone might suffer the same frustration and trauma as I did when I replaced my old tablet only to find that it didn't work on paint tool sai initially Dx! I scoured the internet only to find answers that didn't help me. Once I finally found the solution after days of perseverance I thought I'd publish the answer properly in hopes that people will see it ^_^
Happy that it helped you!
