Description
Original character to be part of my story, Vikriss. A psychotic forsaken demon with an addiction to dark magic. Of his vast magic, one ability is possessing spirits of the dead to do whatever he wills as well as dispersing spirits into powerful bursts of energy. When engaging in a battle, he always powers up his sword by sacrificing souls for added damage.----------
So all those ideas are planned to go in the final render, might give out a more detailed bio of him if people are actually interested.
I'll be trying a different approach to painting than my usual, starting with a tinted B&W render followed by color layers and final touch-ups.

Nice touch with the colours, somehow the picture seems like it lacks them, but at the same time they are fully present, and they create quite a gloomy atmosphere...

I kinda randomly made up a list of names for a story i have in mind, thought Vikriss sounded fitting for a menacing character.

No but,ehh...the problem is,I rarely see any original names...
It's funny,but many names are not made up by themself,they are always a reference to a foreign word(Sora=Heaven,Azul=blue,Crimson=...you know the colour) or to someone famous(Dante=Satirist in the Renaissance,Beowulf=That hero in the nothern countries,etc.)
If you look into a game,a book in our time,then you see that all those names aren't invented,they are already used up...and that's the sad part...unlike the old Greeks,we lost our originality to made up something...only some works still have it.

That's why I found it great that someone took his time to make a name invented by him-/herself

I see what you mean. Not sure if you've seen Ergo Proxy before, but that anime used a lot of names with interesting background history.
I guess when i'm designing my own characters i kinda strive for a "one of a kind" thing, and maybe also because i wanted to create an entire new world so i didn't want anything to be too similar or realistic to our world. Doubt i could give out 100's of unique names, but i will try for major characters.
