I'm going to guess this is how Nintendo finally decided to solve the idea of having a playable Peach, that came up during NSMB Wii's development.

that's probably just what happened during Peachette's development but I mean, why not just make peach playable and make it like super mario 3d world where you didn't rescue peach?
