While coming up with what characters would appear in my upcoming "Top 5 Total Drama Characters Based on My Personality" meme (Spoiler Alert; Sky is one of them), I began to think about Sky and how she could've been developed more... or in reality, give her ANY development. Just like everyone else who wasn't Shawn, Jasmine, and maybe Sammy, Sky had no real development as a character and left either the same she was when she first arrived or (most likely) ended up leaving worse than before. And as I was thinking about how to fix her, one episode and one moment in particular came to mind... and that was the scene where Sky sabotaged her old team, and Dave, with a horn in "Three Zones and A Baby".

To me, this was the point of no return. Once Sky made her choice after being intimidated by Jasmine, everything about her and Dave started to go downhill with almost no chance at redeeming them. If this scene was played out differently, then things could've ended better for the two of them. And that's what I'm going to be talking about today. I was just going to talk about developing Sky, but since Dave played a big part in her story, I'm going to develop him too... so that he doesn't end up becoming one of the worst characters in TD history.

First off, everything that happens to Sky and Dave up until this moment remains the same. But when Jasmine gives Sky the choice to either be a Team Player or a Team Traitor, Sky stands up to her and refuses to do so; saying that despite being on separate teams now and still wanting to win the million, she still cares about Dave and would never hurt him. In addition, she would say that just because Shawn "might" have betrayed Jasmine doesn't mean that Dave would betray Sky (and, lets be honest, Dave wouldn't have betrayed Sky if Jasmine hadn't forced her to betray him in the first place). Jasmine would get so mad at Sky that she would throw the horn instead and sabotage Sky's old team. Then, in a confessional, Jasmine would declare that Sky would be the next one to go, while Sky would confess that Dave would be very loyal to her... unlike some other people that she knows; giving us a hint towards the whole "Keith cheating on Sky for her best friend and the two of them hiding it behind her back" scenario that Fresh TV brought up a few years back. But in the end, Topher would still get eliminated after Chris tricks him into thinking that he's the new host.

In "Hurl and Go Seek", instead of Dave trying to beat Sky for second place and then gloating about it, the latter would get angry for losing to Sugar while the former tries to calm her down and say that she still did great despite losing while they hide during the second challenge. Sky thanks Dave for his kindness and even complements him for drinking the Juggy Chugs despite not liking disgusting stuff. They chat a little more and Dave brings up the question about asking Sky to be his girlfriend. This leads to Sky finally telling him that she already has a boyfriend back home, but only brings it up after she gets food poisoning. Dave is shocked and a bit heart breaken about this, but is still more concerned about Sky's health as opposed to the shocking news. So instead of complaining, he tries to help her even though they get caught by Sugar quickly, and the rest of the episode plays out the same way as it does, but with Max going home this time.

During their time teaming up in "Scarlett Fever" and "Sky Fall" (with the former episode still eliminating Scarlett in the end), Sky would tell Dave in full detail about Keith and her best friend from back home and mention that she only knew the night before and had no time to properly break up with him and end her friendship with her former best friend. Dave feels sorry for her and understands why they can't be together... yet. But he does promise to be a better friend than her old best friend, which of course makes Sky very happy. And to show how much of a good person he is, he sacrifices himself when Sugar tries to tackle Sky off the mountain by pushing her out of the way as he takes the fall for her. Sky is terrified by what happened while Shawn and Jasmine (who have already won) are surprised by this. And it is at this point that Jasmine realizes her mistake and apologizes to the two of them before Dave is eliminated. Huh, not only did Jasmine realize her mistake about thinking that Shawn betryed her, but also about forcing Sky to make the same choice. More development for the Aussie I guess.

When we get to "Pahk'd with Talent", Sky still feels sad about Dave's accident and begins to miss him dearly. Luckily Shawn and Jasmine are there by her side and team up with her to get revenge on Sugar. Everyone would perform their custom challenges and finish the same way they did (but with the addition of Jasmine's challenge), and Sugar would still finish last. Afterwards, Shawn (after becoming the winner of the episode) would choose who he would want to face off against in the finale (just like in All Stars). However, he decides to drop out and let the two girls move on together instead (hey, gotta find a way to have an all female finale to balance out Revenge of the Island's all male finale). Also, in my version, there is NONE of that whole BS subplot of Shawn not sharing the million with Jasmine behind her back.

And in the finale, Jasmine and Sky would face off against each other with help from their allies; Shawn for Jasmine and Dave (with the top of his head still bandaged up) for Sky. Also, EVERYONE would return and NOT just the helpers. Sky is very happy to see that Dave is doing better and admits that she would rather lose the million than lose him. See, development! Everyone would compete in the first two challenges, but before the last one can begin, Scarlett returns for one final act of revenge, and Chris decides that which ever of the two girls manages to stop her would win the million (based on a fanfic I saw on how Sky redeemed herself after the finale called "Sky's Quest" on Fanfiction.com... it involves a Christmas wish and being sent back to Episode 8 for a second chance). In Jasmine's ending, Sky is OK with the loss since she still has Dave and says that once she breaks up with Keith, she is willing to give Dave a chance at becoming her new boyfriend, which of course makes him very happy. And in Sky's ending, she would either split the million with Dave and the rest of her new friends or just give it away to Jasmine, saying that she didn't do enough to earn it and that there was something else she'd rather have... being Dave of course.

There! We've not only gave Sky development, but also Dave. I know this feels more like a summary on how I would re-write the second half of Pahkitew Island, but I had to do it this way in order for the development to work. This is what I think SHOULD'VE happened in the actual version and that the season would've been a decent, fitting, and satisfying way to end the series... not perfect, but satisfying. But nope, the writers didn't care about any of this and just wanted to make Sky and Dave look bad while only caring about the zombie obsessed freak (and I mean that in a good way) and his hot Australian girlfriend. You could blame Sky for her actions, you could blame Jasmine for intimidating her to do what she did, but to me, the writers will ALWAYS be to blame... for everything.
