Description We've all been wondering when the next update for CTR would come out.  It's been half a year since the Beenox Update.  Well two days ago, Beenox have finally came out and said... that was it.  Yeah!  The Beenox Update back at the end of March WAS the final update.  I am upset that the race is over, with some stuff that never made it to the game.  But I'm actually more disappointed that it took them this long to announce this.  They should've told us that after the Gasmoxia GP, that their next update would be their last.  That way, we would've at least known that not only the Grand Prix series would be ending, but also the game as a whole.  To me, this was the only thing in Nitro-Fueled that Beenox got wrong.

To pay tribute to this game, I want to go over the Top 10 things that I wanted to see get added or improved upon in Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled.  Before I get started, I will say that I will not include anything regarding Online Mode since I'm not an online gamer and I prefer playing solo (unless it's with close friends, I.E. ).

10) Improved Wumpa Challenges

As I've stated in my Post GP Content review, the Wumpa Coin payouts are rubbish.  You only earn 25 coins for each Daily Challenge you complete (5 in total), 75 coins for each Weekly Challenge (10 in total), and 200 coins for each Monthly Challenge (5 in total).  This is not a good way to earn Wumpa Coins.  You're better off playing Wumpa Time in Online Mode with a friend on the weekends or grinding for Golden Wumpa's on the shortest tracks in the Single Race Arcade Mode.  I would have preferred it if Daily Challenges earned you 100 coins, Weekly would earn you 200 coins, and Monthly would earn you 500.  Also, I wish the number of Daily and Monthly Challenges would increase from 5 to 10.  This would make it a lot easier to earn coins and unlock the stuff you want a lot faster.

There is also one new feature that I didn't mention in that content review, and that is a 4th Challenge system called Grand Prix Challenges.  Yes, I know that the GP series is over, but hear me out.  I think this would be a great way for people to earn the Grand Prix Decals for the Champion Kart, for those who either got the game late or never made the Top 5% on either of the GP Leaderboards.  There would've been 10 challenges that would've returned and tied into one of the Grand Prix's.  And if you were able to beat all 10 of them, you would unlock the decal for the kart.  Whenever the Monthly Challenges would rotate, that's when the next batch of GP Challenges would start.  But if you missed one of the challenges, don't worry, just wait until they return at a later date.  Also, doing each GP Challenge would earn you 750 coins per objective.

Now it would be even easily for you to unlock everything you want if this improvement was applied.

9) Extreme Difficulty

Hard Mode is already hard enough for newcomers.  But what about those who got so good at the game, that Hard Mode has been reduced to Medium Mode?  I think that adding an Extreme difficulty mode would make things really challenging for Offline players like me.  Now I know what you're thinking.  How would Extreme Mode be different from Hard Mode?  Do the AI go even faster?  No, but they will take the shortcuts all the time.  Yeah, even in Hard Mode, none of the AI take the shortcuts while players like us do.  It would really make racing more interesting and challenging if the AI took the shortcuts too.  I mean, the only tracks they take the shortcuts on are Hot Air Skyway and Spyro Circuit.  Now, they could just add the ability to have the AI use the shortcuts sometimes on Medium Mode or all the time on Hard Mode, but maybe they should just keep those two modes the way they are and just add a new difficulty mode to the game.

8) Dialogue Viewer/Editor

We already have a menu where we can listen to the musical tracks of every race track (both Classic and Nitro-Fueled versions), so why not have a menu where we can listen to the dialogue of each racer (once you've unlocked them of course)?  Here, you can listen to each line of dialogue that each racer says, especially since (like with the music) it can be a bit hard to hear what they're saying when you have the other sound effects turned up to their max volume.  You would select the name of a character, and each character would have a line of dialogue categorized by a number (01, 02, 03, etc.).  This can be great for those would want to hear their favorite lines of dialogue.

However, there is also a way that you can turn off certain lines of dialogue.  While the X button can be used to play the dialogue and O can be used to back out of the menu, you can use the Square button to mute a selected line of dialogue or the Triangle button to mute all of their dialogue.  This can be used to either remove certain lines that weren't used in the original CTR game (for those that were in the OG game), remove certain lines that you don't like from a certain character (*cough* Yaya *cough*), or completely mute someone (like Pasadena, for those who don't like Debi Deriberry voicing her) without having to turn off all the dialogue from the game in the Options Menu.

But in all seriousness, this is so I can get rid of some or all of Yaya's dialogue so I don't have to hear her shrill voice while racing as her instead of just always turning off the dialogue completely before using her, and not hearing all the other racers.

7) More Rewards for Beating the Developer Times

As of this review, I'm only 3 Dev Times away from unlocking those Master Wheels (even though I've stated before that I'm never going to attempted those, and I will be doing a Top 10 Easiest and Hardest Dev Time list soon).  But I feel like there should've been more rewards for those who can't beat them all, but are at least rewarded for beating some of them.  And here's what I think the rewards would be:

-If you are able to beat ANY of the developers (I recommend Inferno Island of Jungle Boogie), then you will be rewarded with the Cove Cruiser, signature decal, Mint Burst paint, and Gummy Grinder tires.  This can be a great alternative for those who never got some or all of the unlockables during the Trident/Sour Patch Kids promotion.  Sadly, you won't get the Sour Patch Kids stickers, but those were really for the completionist.  The other stuff is what everyone really wanted.

-If you can beat 10 developers, then you would be rewarded with the Beenox Crate as a Legendary Skin for the Iron Checkpoint Crate.  How come this wasn't a skin for it already?  I mean, it's in the games intro and you had to break them to unlock the character after all.

-And if you can beat 20 of them, you would unlock the Beenox Decal for the Champion Kart.  How come this wasn't the ultimate reward for beating all the Dev Times?  And these times came in the Beenox Update.  This truly was a missed opprotunity.

6) More Spyro Characters

I've already mentioned this in my "How to Get More Spyro Characters in CTR" discussion (link here: www.deviantart.com/peter-the-g…), so I won't go into too much detail here.  But I will bring up some more options that I didn't bring up in that discussion.  Also, on a side note, it would've been nice if Beenox retired Spyro from the Pit Stop and made him a "Ready to Use" character; like they did with Crunch and Geary.

-While I did bring up unlocking Spyro characters by winning the Gem Cups as Spyro in said discussion, I want to improve on that.  If I can only choose 5 racers, it would be Ripto (for beating the Red Gem Cup), Elora (for beating the Green Gem Cup), The Sorceress (for beating the Blue Gem Cup), Bianca (for beating the Yellow Gem Cup), and the Egg Thief* (for beating the Purple Gem Cup).

*Well, I actually have another idea for unlocking the Egg Thief if not with the Purple Gem Cup (since you'll unlock Fake Crash that way).  Since we already had a challenge where if you break every Beenox crate on every track, you would unlock the Iron Checkpoint Crate as a racer.  Well how about an Egg Hunt where if you can find every hidden egg on every track, you would unlock the Egg Thief as a racer.

-I feel like that the Spyro Grand Prix should've been the very LAST GP in the series.  Instead of it being the 3rd one, it should've been replaced with either the Neon Circus or Rustland GP's.  And then after the Winter Festival, we would've had the Gasmoxia GP, and then Spyro would come last.  If this had happened, they could've gone all out and made it all Spyro related, with not 1, not 3, not 5, but "8" new racers (Spyro, Hunter, Gnasty Gnorc, Elora, Ripto, Bianca, The Sorceress, and the Egg Thief); and they would be the only ones with Legendary Skins (none for the Crash characters).

5) More Legendary Skins

Speaking of Legendary Skin, this is also something I've already discussed; which you can fully read right here: www.deviantart.com/peter-the-g…

4) Saving Custom Karts

This is something that everyone wanted when the game first came out.  It can be a bit of a pain to always go through every item in the customizer just to recreate a kart design that you love (at least it's not as big of a hassle as it is to go through every item in Disney Infinity 3.0's Toy Box).  It would've been nice to be able to save your custom creations in either a new sub menu called "Custom Karts" or added them to the "Special Karts" menu.

With the latter, I feel like this should've been the main feature instead of it just housing Limited Edition karts that not everyone would be able to get (XBOX owners don't have the Retro Karts, some people don't have the Firehawk (which I'm not sure if it's still available at the time of this Top 10), and hardly anyone has the Xfinity Flash Kart (and I'll talk more about that later).

Saving your custom kart combos was another missed opportunity and could've been another unique feature to the game.

BTW: I think the limit on how many karts you can save should be 24.

3) Custom Legendary Skins

We can already make our own custom kart combos.  So why not do that to the characters?  I don't mean by giving them their preset Legendary Skins or Recolors, I'm talking about mixing up different elements from their skins; like Dark Coco wearing Princess Coco's dress, Circus Isabella with Standard Isabella's Hair, or Dirt Bike Crunch without his helmet.  This could've made for some even more crazy and unique looks for our favorite characters.

In order to unlock this ability (besides unlocking their skins first), you would have to win no less than 50 races with each racer, but no more than 100.  Then you would have the freedom to mix up your character's look.  Heck, doing this could also unlock new items that aren't even from any of their preset skins; like a necklace for Tawna, some gloves for Hunter, or even giving Liz no shoes to wear (OK, that last one is unlikely, but I can dream can't I? ).

Once you have your custom outfit made (and named), you can save it and have it ready for the next time you use it.  And you can save up to 3 outfits.

2) Custom Cup Races

People want Custom Cup Races in Online Mode, I want it in Arcade Mode.  Wouldn't be fun to make up your own themed Cup Race, and save them (up to 5 or 6 of them)?  Some examples I have include a Winter Cup (Polar Pass, Blizzard Bluff, Meteor Gorge, and Gingerbread Joyride), a Spyro Cup (Spyro Circuit, Dragon Mines, Coco Park, and Cortex Castle) and a Crash Tag Team Racing (or just Tag Team) Cup (Crash Cove, Prehistoric Playground, Twilight Tour, and Hyper Spaceway).  We can make custom karts and change the look of our characters, why not do the same with the tracks themselves?

Before we get to number 1, here are some Honorable Mentions:

-Yellow Princess Coco: I feel like there was also a missed opportunity to give Princess Coco a Legendary Recolor that is a reference to Belle from "Beauty and the Beast".  Just make her dress, gloves, and shoes yellow and change her hair from yellow to brown, and you have a great reference to a beloved Disney classic.

-Disable Turbo Gauge Swap: Even though this was in the original game where you can swap between the different gauges with the Triangle button, I wish this was removed and just replaced with the ability to choose your preferred gauge from the Options Menu (this is especially helpful for those who quickly press buttons when trying to restart a Time Trial).

-Oxide Edition Bundle in the Pit Stop: Highly unlikely, but I do wish that on special occasions (like Christmas), we would get a 24 hour window to unlock the Deluxe Edition items in the Pit Stop (for about 15,000 to 20,000 coins).

-All 55/56 racers as AI in Adventure Mode: While Nitro-Fueled Mode let's you play Adventure Mode with any character and kart, we're still restricted to seeing only the original 8 characters race against you.  This should be only for Classic Mode, and the entire 55/56 character roster should compete against you in Nitro-Fueled Mode.

-Improve Wumpa Coin Payout: They did increase the payout during the Rustland GP (nearly doubling what the original payout was), and I wish they kept this instead of going back to the original low payout.

-Stickers on the Sides of the Champion and Cove Cruiser Karts: Before the Spooky GP, these two karts had stickers on their sides, which gave them a lot of detail without their decals.  But after said GP came out, they removed them, and now they only appear on the front of the karts.  I don't know why they did this.

1) 1 Year Anniversary Patch

We were all hoping for an Anniversary Update to close out this game.  And all we got was a generic Pit Stop "Party" Bundle (which included Hasty, Clown Cortex, Beenox Robo-Cortex (which I don't get since he's a free skin when you update the game), Bandibuggy Kart, Sparkling Blue paint, and Firework & Balloon stickers).  It would've been so much better if we got special Party versions of Crash, Coco, and Cortex as free Legendary Skins once you've downloaded the update.  In addition, we would get two new karts; one of them would be a Cake-shaped Kart and the other would be an alternate custom version of the Xfinity Flash Kart (like how we got an alternate custom version of the Firehawk).  And finally, we would get 4 more Crash characters; like Willie Wumpa Cheeks, Madame Amberly, Rusty Walrus, and Viscount.

Plus, this update would include some of the improvements that I've mentioned above:

-Improved Wumpa Challenges
-Dialogue Viewer/Editor
-More Rewards for Beating the Developer Times
-More Legendary Skins
-Saving Custom Karts
-Custom Cup Races

I would like to include everything I said here, but these 6 have a higher chance of being added to this patch.

These were the things that I personally wanted to see be included in the game before development on it completely stopped.  Too bad we'll never get the chance to see them.  This game had potential to keep going on for another update or two.  At least it's still an amazing game and didn't overstay its welcome unlike others (I'm looking at you GTA Online).  Let's just hope that these new additions will appear in the potential CTR sequel.
