Few days ago I read an article in which was told about the British Empire's conquests around the world. They said that Finland would've been also conquered by the Brits.Well, I hate to tell that the British Empire never ruled Finland. They tried to invade Finland which was an autonomic nation under Russia's rule at that time. The Finns asked help from Russians and British never came to conquer Finland. But, oh, did they try! They attacked quite fiercely at all lengths of Finnish coast. This happened as a part of the Crimean war (Finnish=Krimin sota) and is called the War of Åland/Aland (Finnish=Oolannin sota).
