Description FINISHED! So Please Fullview!

In honor and anticipation for the upcomming PSP game, Daxter (it's commin' out today, I think; GameStop haven't called me yet since we placed reservation for a copy, but I am giddy with excitement ). On the demo UMD, in his dream sequences, he imagine himself as Neo from the Matrix fighting, off hundreds of Gol-Smiths (similar to the Dark Sattelite game in Jak 3). I could not help but laugh at this, and I kinda wanted to do some fanart of Dax for a long time -- he's a tough character to draw, but I like this very much.

It felt like this took me a long, long time to do this, especially with CorelDRAW (and actually quite quick-like in Photoshop), but if I took the time to record my hours when I worked on this, maybe I would know just how long it does take me to do this. Have been working on this on and off from time to time since I submitted the line drawing version.

Background done using an online tutorial on how to make a Matrix-style effect in Photoshop; blown up, smoothed out with gauzier blur, and all that jazz. Will feature this at the next furry cons (CaliFur, AnthroCon) art shows and make prints of this as soon as I can get help on how to do it on a professional scale with GOOD colors (I don't trust Kinko's anymore ). Maybe Glen will help me...

Software and materials used:

Premium Dual Purpose paper for pen and ink
Sakura Pigma Micron pens (0.1, 0.3, 0.5)
CorelTRACE 9
CorelDRAW 9
Photoshop CS2

This is just gorgeous! The lineart looks so smooth in all the shots you took. :3 This is definitely a labor of love.

Those close ups are neat, they actually show the blood, sweat, and tears behind this piece.

Daxter for PSP comes out tomorrow. Homework will have to be put on hold for a few hours I think. lol

<-- And as the word I typed in here, I must reitterate my initial reaction to this...WOW!

I really loved the inks of this, but the finished version is just...stunning! You can REALLY see all the hard work you put into this, every inch of it! The coloring is so sharp and eye-catching, sharp being the word that sticks in my mind the most. Very clear and precise and professional in the shading, especially on that leather trenchcoat of his, all the different colors to make the shine come out so brightly...eesh! It looks lovely! ^^ As well as being in love with the shading, I'm in love with all the folds in the crook of his arms and along his waist...just <3 that jacket, I do.

Another thing that makes this coloring so impressive is the glow it gives off. It makes all the colors seem so vibrant that they just can't stay in their lines! But seriously, he looks very supernatural (and matrixy) with the glowing, and of course it differentiates him from the bg. Gotta mention now the shadows around his legs and lower body...AGH! It's such perfect shades of orange. @.@ I'm a sucker for warm color shadings, and the orange and yellows are making my strange little obsession warm and fuzzy. :3

Woot! You went with the Precursor-Matrix background! That was such an awesome choice for that other bit of Matrix!Dax fanart, and it looks just as awesome on yours! <3 All the different sizes and brightness of the letters look like they would've taken a while to do, so props for that...as well as the whole computer look to the image as a whole. ^___^ So! Cool! Really great work, a must fav!

( The very fact that Gol was brought back for a mini-appearance fills me with SO MUCH geeky glee, I'm about to 'splode! xD But seriously, a PSP and this game are way up there on my wishlist of things. I've just recently acquired (a rather well-paying, when it comes to afterschool ^^) a job, so before I start stashing away for college 'n all that I've been thinking of splurging on a PSP and the Daxter game...do you know of any other games for PSP that'd be worth buying the whole system for? o.o I've seen a few for Nintendo DS (another possible splurge!item) but haven't heard much about games for the ol' PSP... )

Thank you ever so much for that long, extensive comment -- I feel so very loved

As for game reccomendations, I've only accquired two titles of interest: Frantix (puzzle game which includes the CGI animated short, 'The Chubchubbs') and Legend of Heroes: Tears of Vermillion (general RPG, but the English translations and grammar are excrutiating ). Other than that, I'm placin' my money souley(sp) on the Daxter PSP for the time being (only reason I GOT me'self a PSP until they have an adaptor for the PS3). Don't forget: the PSP's just been released as of last year, so there are very few interesting titles out there, the same thing happened with the PS2 at the turn of the century until titles like Jak and Daxter started pouring out. You can probably bet the same kind of marketing speed for the PS3 when the holidays roll out, so you have plenty of time and effort to save for that as well (I'm gonna save my money from selling prints for that alone ).

Sorry I overinduldge on that one I'm an info-freak when it comes to techonological and economical details... and Wikipedia is just an oozing lagoon of information, too! Hope that helps. Good luck with acquiring your own PSP (used is best reccomended for the time being).

Sure thing!

Hmmm. I think you might be right about the game releasage and all. Perhaps Daxter can wait till Christmas next year, as blasphemous as that sounds to my inner Jak!fan. >.>; Or at the very least I can fall back on my original plan of talking one of my friends into getting the game for their own PSP and then borrowing it... XD (ooh, sneaky!)

Thanks for the info!

Borrowing couldn't hurt It's a tiny game; I'm thru 64% in under 24 hours -- it IS addicting

Wow! Only handheld game I've been working on lately is FF Tactics, for GBA...I've logged about 30 hours into it over about a year, and I'm STILL not done! xD Curse how tempting it is to proceed too quickly then need to level up like crazy before you can beat the game-type games... x.x

That's good to hear, though! :3 If I must impose on my friends' hospitality, it won't be for too long.
