"Mom, how much longer do I have to be a girl," Matt asked as he got out of the shower. "I don't like having a girl's body."

"Matt, first, cover yourself up better," Matt's mother responded. "Second, the shift is permanent; you'll have to live with your new body like the other 400 million shifted people."

"But I don't want to," Matt complained. "I don't like having boobies, I don't like sitting down to pee, and I don't want to bleed."

"Do you think that woman wants your body, that she wants to go through puberty a second time but as a boy, that she wants to deal with being a child again," Matt's mother yelled. "Stop being so selfish!"

Matt collapsed on the floor in tears, and his mother's rage faded into remorse at the sight of it. She apologized for her outburst, got down on the floor, and hugged him. She let Matt cry into her shoulder and thought about ways to make it up to him. The next morning she looked for a therapist who could help Matt with his new situation and found someone who could help him. She signed Matt up for a session just to see how he liked it, and he seemed to enjoy it. Over the next couple of weeks, Matt would slowly learn to accept his new body. He realized that being a woman wasn't so bad, although the bleeding was something she would always hate. She would take the name Madison and live her life as an adult. She would get a diploma from homeschooling and land a simple job with okay pay. To anyone who didn't know her old body or the original owner of her new body, she was just an ordinary woman.
