Description
This is Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars EU on the board of his command ship, Chimaera. He was the only non-human Grand Admiral in the Galactic Empire, a brilliant genius tactician and military strategist with great intelligence and sense for art.He is, beside Mara Jade, my favourite EU character, he was a pleasure to read about. Okay, okay, I won't be fangirling
Anyways, I drew him without an ysalamir or even Captain Pellaeon, and there was no way I would draw any noghri around him, arrghh. Death on Rukh for killing him!!
I still can't believe that this is my first SW art
Yeah, I still couldnt learn how to color background, so the stardestroyer interior is lame. And I also know that the window in not of a destroyer but of the Death Star 2 *shruggs* Let me assume they put an alike window in the hull
He doesn't belong to me, thank you, Mr Zahn for creating him and throwing him into our arms

That's a great pic! I love him too Hopefully Zahn will write another book after Outbound Flight.^^ Maybe your Thrawn is a little too blue. I think he was already described as having light blue skin. Otherwise it's really cool!

Yeah, they say some new book is coming out about Thrawn, I guess.
Sure, thanks for the comment, now i would definitely do the whole pic in a different way, though.

I love how you've made Thrawn look so thoughtful here, like he's thinking about just what the future might hold for the Empire; what he's helping to bring about.
Anyway, beautiful piece of art. I think Thrawn himself would approve

Thanks a lot I love that character, he's a genius, and the best way to draw him is during pondering

Revan is my favorite character, but Thrawn is a very close second.

Awesme! Star Wars EU rocks! Have you read the legacy of the force yet?

Thank you
No, I havent, but I quite know what it is about. To be honest, I'm a bit reluctant to read both New Jedi Order and Legacy, because there are too many death in it, and I'm not sure I'm ready to accept the fall of my favourites, for me the original characters and some of the EUs are untouchable, they just should not die. However, I know almost the whole storyline, what happens to the chars, and so on, it's only that I haven't read it yet.
I prefer the books before NJO
You liked the LotF books then?

oh its good they really don't kill that many though I was sad when mara died and when anakin and chewie died, its a very real/scifi story line because it makes you remember that the Jedi aren't gods and they aren't immortal, Legacy of the force is good because it makes you think. It has all the glory of star Wars with a complex storyline. But the Thrawn Trilogy is still my favorite! More or less I've read nearly all the books from return of the Jedi on.

You are absolutely right about showing Jedi not being gods, but I just like to keep my favourites alive so I can read more about them. Now there is no possibility to read about Mara, Anakin, Chewie, Jacen, Ackbar, Feylya (though I hate him just as everyone else does) or even Pellaeon after LotF - what I lost is the endlessness of the whole story. Now whenever I read about Mara (books before NJO), all I think about is she dies in the end anyway. It's a bit like someone's put a "The end" sign at the at end of the whole SW saga. From now on, it means they are free to kill Luke and Han and Leia - why not? They are hardly immortal. But with them, something else would also die out that gives the whole story its essence. Well, for me the above mentioned now-dead characters give their contribution to this essence, that's why I feel it corrupted. But it really is only an IMO

when they started writing the books George Lucas forbade them to kill Luke Leia or Han. But I do see your point.

Thank heavens he forbade it that's why they kill everyone around them
what a happy life

Oh, I don't know this blueface villain, do you think I would like his character? I should read the trilogy you mentioned!
I can paint only with traditional tools so I am envy even to this level of knowledge. I am sure you will learn all the tricks soon, what program do you use?
And yes, how come it is your first SW art?
π: 0 β©: 1
miraxterrik In reply to Expell-HUN [2008-06-03 15:58:24 +0000 UTC]
I guess, yeah, maybe you'd like him (because it's impossible not to like him
) Though you won't learn all the little things in his soul, but his character is so impressing, gorgeous and genial with his always-a-step-ahead-the-others decisions, that I can't resist him
There are a lot of SW expanded universe characters, but I can say, he is one of the most popular.
I am lame with PS, really. And in a way, I hate it as well, and have nooo patience for it at all. Plus, what i use is not PS but Adobe Photoshop Elements, that I guess is a lamer version of normal PS - there are many things/tools that cannot be found in this program, though they are a part of normal PS. But PS CS doesnt work on my comp for a very strange and unknown reason But browse my favs, you will see what treasures others can do with PS, not things like this
I dont know maybe I really am sick
I don't like drawing SW characters who are in the films, maybe because I very much want them to look exactly the same as in the films...
So I draw side-chars.

Hm, I must give him a chance - after I finished with Anita Blake hunting down all the bloody vampires . The library must have a copy here, it is SW! Is there someromance for him....? you know that deep in my heart I am a daydreamer
you watch too much football instead of practicing, my lady Have you checked the coloring tutorials here? My computer was left here from the time of pyramids and pharaos (cannot even write a cd), and I can still run the Adobe Photoshop 7.0, we should check your comp with my program. I installed the Hungarian version for stupid blondies as I am

Uh, you could try the library, yeah, "A Birodalom ΓΆrΓΆkΓΆsei" in Hungarian. But bad news, there is no romance for him at all. He is absolutely a military man But who said we cannot imagine him one?
Lol, I'm lost when it comes to practicing as practicing needs patience. A thing that I'm lack of
