Description Yeah. I'm still alive. Just very busy.
I needed something to keep my mind off of
things so I dug up this sketch in my sketch
book and slapped some lineart and color
on 'im.

It's Snails and Dirt. Snails is the faerie, Dirt is the
snail looking thing Snails is wearing as a hat. Both
were old character designs I never used, but I still
like them. They have no story or background. They
just are. Snails is just a lazy faerie and Dirt is his
pet/friend/hat thing?

Snails, Dirt, and Image belong to me.

Enjoy~

How do you put that texture in the background? o.o Do you just open the picture and draw straight on it?

No, the explanation is long and complicated sounding, but it's really quite easy. I usually draw the picture and color it all first in photoshop, then pick a flat bg color like in this case it was a darker tan/red. Then I go find a texture I like on a site like this: [link] Then I paste the texture where I want it in a new layer directly over the layer I want it to show up on. But if I want the texture to take on the color of the layer behind it, I'd then go and change the texture layer properties from "normal" to "overlay". And then I just usually fiddle with the transparency thingamabob until I get what I want.

In this picture I used three different textures: the background, the rock, and the faerie. For the rock, I just did the same thing I did for the background, but instead of keeping the whole texture I just erased all of the texture layer except for where it was covering the rock. I did the same for the faerie too.

Sorry I fail miserably at explaining things. .__.;;;;
