If you like what you see, commission me!
Speedpaint here.
I have no idea what MapleStory is, nor am I remotely competant at MMORPG - which I think it is...? But I was drawing chibi's earlier and wow, I haven't done chibi's in FOREVER. It was nice to do. I loved the art style and wanted to see if I could submit my own entry with competence. When or one of my groups give a contest/challenge I get so wrapped up in an idea I don't always follow the exact rules. But this was to Mapleize yourself, I figure you can't really go wrong...? I looked at the different classes and subclasses and this one seemed to fit me best - basically a miko.
To make the design my own other than just pasting my face onto the character model I changed the headdress (bows on the head are so boring...) and gave myself a different belt, cumstom designs on the obi and details on the sleeves. I do still look like a miko, but at least it's MY miko.
Also tried to challenge myself - since I haven't done anime eyes in forever and I never really progressed from the simplistic shading of the 90s I thought I'd try something more detailed. I forgot to it record for the speedpaint, but I went through FOUR different iterations of eyes before I found one I liked. With the exception of a layer trick everything was in my wheelhouse, and I really liked how they came out. I also did the hair differently - it;s the same techniques I've been using for while, but this time I used the lasso to paint in certain parts at a time, effectively doing one cutl at a time to make it look like it did.
Meh background is Me, but the point is the chibi, so I hope the contest runners like it.
What I like: Eyes, pose, details expression
What I don't like: the lineart - seriously, how do you do competent lineart in photoshop? Mine are always so wiggly wobbly. Fuzzy background, the kitsune on my shoulders.
As always, let me know what you think!

This was actually my original style before I decided to stretch my art-muscles. I drew in anime/chibi style for over a decade, you can see it aaaallll the way bag at the beginning of my gallery. Muscle memory for that doesn't go away, but now all my painting in otherΒ areas have made this look much better.
