Description
WARNING: HUMONGOUS FILE!My first tutorial ever Q U Q
I'm sorry, I'm a horrible teacher OTL
But please enjoy <3
Ask questions if you want, and I'll do my best to answer them!
It was supposed to be longer, but my computer ran out of RAM space and the scratch disks were full, so I couldn't resize the canvas to make it bigger orz.
So, I worked on this throughout class time (ICT 9/10), since I finished all my assignments super early. I barely have any more time at home, busy with homework ;A;
Not sure what to say here LOL
But I'm so tired and I should get some more sleep
I hope I can get a Part II out soon, but no guarantees.
Part 2 will probably be about drawing/shading, as my watchers wanted.
Oh yeah, this was made for:

EDIT: OMG A DD! ;A;
Never would have thought!
Thank you so much to ^MzzAzn for suggesting, and ^shelldevil for featuring it! Thank you so much!

SAI is sooo complex... I've been using it for about a month and I get the feeling I haven't even discovered half of what it can do...

Ahaha yes, but many good graphics programs are very expensive. For example, Photoshop could cost well over $800 CND. Even Elements (the simple version of PSD) costs around 100 bucks.
Compared to other products, SAI is actually pretty cheap.
You can download a trial version here: [link] , then you'll have to pay to keep it.
Hope that helps!

Awesome tutorial!
I liked how it was easy to follow and straightforward.
I didn't mind the huge file either because it was easier to read.
You'e not a bad teacher at all. (:

Helpful tutorial =3
I have one question.
When you drow with your brushes, the end becomes thiner, and my brushes draw all the line with the same size.
How can I do like you?
π: 0 β©: 2
miru-kai In reply to garazi-chan [2012-01-30 23:48:55 +0000 UTC]
Unfortunately, the thin ends only work if you have a tablet.
However, in SAI, there is a feature called the line work layer (or something like that), and that allows you to use a mouse to draw the lines, then thin out the edges, achieving the same effect as a tablet drawn line.
Some helpful tutorials on this are here: [link] [link]
You can probably search up some more using keywords like 'sai lineart tutorial' or such.
Hope that helps!

It sounds like you're either using a mouse, or you have a tablet and don't have pressure sensitivity enabled. A mouse won't give you pressure sensitivity, but if you're using a tablet you might be able to resolve your issue by downloading the latest drivers from the tablet maker's website.

it was that? mmm.... no, I havenΒ΄t a tablet, i use the mouse.
But thank you very much ^^

miru-kai In reply to aacrell [2012-01-30 23:53:53 +0000 UTC]
Hey there!
To my knowledge, somehow, some versions of SAI do not come with the ink pen.
But have no fear! /shot
You can simply download a brush (search it up ewe) or just make a custom tool.
Some tutorials on this: [link] or [link]
Hope that helps!

HolyFrap In reply to aacrell [2012-01-29 00:38:02 +0000 UTC]
If you look above your layers area, you'll see a couple of icons... the first represents a new layer (looks like a piece of paper with the corner folded down) now the second, is the lineart tool, and it looks like a piece of paper with a pen in front of it. It creates a new layer, and while that layer is selected, you'll notice your drawing tools will change! The first icon is the lineart pen!
using these options you can edit your linearts strokes, delete them and various other things!!
