Description
My latest art class project!!! MAN did this take a while. I actually just finished it this past Saturday, but it was 'due' like a while before that haha.Anyways, the 'assignment' for this project was to create a painting that used the same color scheme (like... the same amount of each color) of another painting. My painting to use as a color scheme was this one: [link]
But I'll tell you right now that by the end of this project I really didn't care whether the colored matched that much. I mean, I still tried to include all the colors, but I knew how I wanted my painting to look, and if that meant not using those colors exactly, so be it. xD
The idea behind the painting itself was creation. Well, not at first, because at first I saw a crow outside and wanted to draw a crow so I did. xD Then I wanted to draw light on its wings/back, because crows have that sort of sheen to them. After that I decided I wanted his wings to be painting something, and they ended up painting the universe/space. So he's creating the universe with paint, just like we can create anything in the universe with art. :>
...It's okay if that didn't make sense, I'm terrible at explaining my ideas.
Done in acrylic paint!! I rather liked doing it actually, and I got some acrylic paints for my birthday (but I'm having trouble finding paper/canvas. Would it work on watercolor paper?). Hopefully I can use them soon 8)
On a side note, there's apparently a kids' book about a rainbow crow??? I find that extremely funny because I didn't know it existed when painting this.
I really like how this turned out though! *proudproudproud* First time I've ever painted/drawn space, too. Twas pretty fun.~XP
Oh yeah, and sorry for the horrible photo quality. >3>
Finished 3/23/13
Enjoy!! :'D

WOAH aaah Summer-
Thank you SOOO much!! blfdks ;o;
I just- wow I'm so happy everyone seems to think this is good because I'M ACTUALLY PROUD OF IT FOR ONCE TOO S;ASKDJF :'0
But thank you SOSOSOSO much for all the feedback... I mean, compliments are nice, but I love reading comments where people say WHAT they thought was good (or bad) rather than just "It's awesome" or some such phrase. And YOU are one of those people!! :'D
AAAaah I'm still so happy, THANKS A MILLION TIMES +6
ALSO, I REALLY HAVE NO IDEA HOW I PAINTED SPACE BECAUSE I'VE NEVER EVEN DRAWN, SKETCHED, WATERCOLORED, OR PRISMA-COLORED IT IN MY LIFE BEFORE SO WOOP~!
BUT OOH THANK YOU for the information!! Because I bought some watercolor paper hoping it would work for acrylics, but I figured if it didn't I could just use it for watercolor haha. BUT YEEEE NOW I'M EXCITED because it will work! :'D

And how DARE you say the photo quality is terrible, cause if it looks bad in the picture above
then it must look absolutely STELLER in real life
I'm lucky if I can even get an image to come out visible in my camera without tweaking 10,000 attributes of it in photoshop

BUT IT LOOKS KIND OF BLURRY ON HERE TO ME.... I mean the colors are okay but it looks... sharper? In real life. I think. And also the corners of the picture are like- the table that was behind the painting. O3O
I usually try to tweak photos in GIMP or in Picture It or something but I usually just play with the brightness and contrast a little bit.
I WONDER HOW MANY TIMES I'LL THANK YOU BUT THANKS GURRRL

Okay
this is absolutely GORGEOUS ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;o;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
I didn't even know it was by you until I saw the username! I'm just absolutely floored looking at this.
The colorscheme is magnificent given how much vibrancy and variety it has :,D And the wings on that bird are just MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM so darn pretty! I'm completely envious of how well you drew them, you've seriously gotta teach me sometime @o@
I'm also a complete sucker for space & space scenery, and I seriously adore the radiant glowing and colors that everything in the backdrop has- especially that bright blue light you've got swooping in and around all of the planets.~
You look like you've been using acrylics for years because this just looks downright amazing And I actually found a pad specifically for acrylic paints with about 10+ sheets of canvas paper in it! It was in the same sort of section as sketch and watercolor pads and it was yellow colored. I got it from a random craft store in a mall near where my bro goes to college, so if you have trouble finding any then I can definitely mail you some because I'd love seeing more gorgeous stuff like this just omgajgs;dflansld;f,kn
I almost thought at first this was done in colored pencils given how it looks like you blend the same way with paint as you do with them, that and they both just come out so vibrant and bright ;A; Seriously everything you touch to color just exPLODES with it
This is straight up amazing Kris, it's been incredible seeing all the improvement in your art over the years. <,D

I'm like- WOW I'M SO HAPPY you actually think I'm improving..... I dunno, I don't feel like I'm getting very far very fast in the drawing department, but I've been wanting to learn about colors and painting and digital painting lately, so I'm really glad that it turned out well!! 8'D
AJF;SKD- Thank you thank you THANK YOU AAH! I can't thank you enough right now, especially because you inspire me to try new things and to improve :')

I definitely think both your drawing AND coloring skills have insanely improved as the years have gone by~ Your drive for learning more about colors and painting seriously shows here because-
k;akjfsdn;af I don't even know how to put it in words right now
BUT JUST KNOW ITS GOOD
This is easily one of your best works yet and you should be proud of every inch of it.~ :,D
