Description This is Christine Daae from Phantom of the Opera done on canvas in oil paints. It's not perfect, but I'm proud of this, my first-ever oil painting- and possibly my best compared to my Padme' Amidala by the Lake and The Kiss paintings! I did this in a painting class in high school and I remember my teacher warning me against this photo because of the lack of contrast and shade and shadow and the difficulty that the voluminous hair would pose. For once, I'm glad I ignored a teacher and just went with my gut, I feel like it payed off being my first endeavour with oils. I just uploaded a new picture, my old one was of the framed portrait and had a huge glare, so hopefully this does it more justice.

Me too on both accounts, I love the movie and the original! But Emmy Rossum is so gorgeous I had to paint her- this was my first oil painting, I did it in 9th grade for a class assignment, and I think it may still be my fav oil that I've done. Maybe its just sentimental . THANKS SO MUCH lady!!!!

You got it!Her skin is so perfect.She would definetly look great in any victorian era clothing,framed in a room.You would'nt even have to tell people who she is.Her beauty is so timeless hehe

She most definitely would- I hope she does more period films in the future! I had such a hard time picking a picture of her, I knew I wanted to use one from Phantom, but all of them were so pretty of her. I ended up picking this one, because she wears this costume in my favorite scene . You really should paint her! You would do a wonderful job, I would love to see her in your style!

She looks great, very much like she does in the film - great job! I especially like the detail on her dress and how her hair looks, so curly and pretty.
Also, I can't help but admire your skill with oils! This doesn't look a bit like the muted messes mine usually turn out...
