I love the sense of movement in the upper part like a blast of arctic air and the shockwaves of cold as temperatures plummet; its effect decreasing but still enough to chill even those at its outer reaches.

It's difficult to put into words the feeling I get whilst creating an image. This image is about the distant sun and the desolation in the depths of winter, hence the title. I can only describe in colour but your words fit perfectly. Thank you

You are very welcome and thank you. I've experienced far too many of those arctic blasts and we seem to be in the midst of one here in the Puget Sound. It's rather mild in comparison to those we had in Northern Minnesota, where I grew up.

This reminds me of film I've seen of people diving under artic ice: the colors, the look of huge pieces of ice underwater, the light and the light blue area around it which look so much like looking through the frozen surface of water. Perfect cold-weather image.
