Description
Part of my "I NEED YOUR FACE!" study collection. This one is of my friend Rachael.. who gave me permission to use her photo, I'm really pleased how this turned out after only 3 hours!! I decided to stop here I did spend a further half hour but the more I did the more it looked 'off' so decided to leave as is. Pretty pleased- I'm doing a series of studies based on colour and values. With a side order of perspective and anatomy.
Apx 3ish hours in CS6 with Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch.

This looks excellent in terms of placement of the features--the proportions all seem very accurate and well measured out. Her lips look gorgeous--very soft and shiny. I think you've captured a very good likeness here and congratulate you for that!
Where the image falls a little flat is the rendering of the details--particularly the hair and skin. There is very little texture on the skin and essentially none at all in the hair. The easiest way to remedy the lack of skin texture is to vary the brushes you use and spend a little more time to polish up the image after laying down the basic structure and hues (such as you have here). Having said that, I noticed that you have created pretty skin textures on other works in your gallery (such as your Self Portrait April 2014), so perhaps that simply wasn't the point of this particular image However, as a colour/values study, I think you missed out by not experimenting a bit more--particularly with values in the hair in this case. (The low DPI of the reference photograph must have hindered you in this respect, right?
It's kind of hard to see the values in the photo.)
Overall, a very decent representation of your friend--she's really cute Best of luck to you. You have a lot of skill!
By the way, I think AnotherContestGroup is a superb concept

Dear friend,
I'm sorry I haven't got back to you before now I've had some life changing events happen recently.. and it hasn't left me much time for anything.
As for what you said here it's most appreciated. I am still learning, and your points are very welcomed and I think you for your advice and guidance. I think I'd got to the point with these where I was just trying to get them done. I'd taken on too much at once. I only got through about half of the portraits I have backed up on request and just shut down for want of a better term between over working myself, medical stuff and relationship breakdown which had seen me move and well it's been very eventful this past 6months. I will take into consideration what you said though and hope to use it to advance and improve on my works.
As for AnotherContestGroup it simply came about as I was obsessed with entering contests, which became featuring my friends and the ones I entered in my journal. Soon enough people started giving me llama's and points etc for featuring their contests. I searched and seemingly there was a bunch of contest groups but none really active or that really had the man power to run such a group. It's seen a lot of changes since I founded it 4-5 years ago. I'm so proud of it I never expected it to get this far but the staff current and past have made the group what it is.

You're very welcome, and don't worry about taking time to respond--you sound like you have enough on your plate without stressing out over replying to random people on the internet! I hope things are starting to improve for you a bit; I'm sure you're overdue a reprieve
