I made this tutorial after a couple of people mentioned how i draw hair.I couldnt resist making this to show how simple it is...
Its a bit rushed, but i didnt want to stuff it full of unecissary information.

I'm new to photoshop I get layers but how do u do them

well... this isnt photoshop for starters
i dont like explaining layers to people because they generally dont understand unless they just give it a shot, so i suggest you look up some photoshop layer tutorials if you want some help

oh i completely understand.. gimp can be really hard to use sometimes.

I just have trouble with facial shape and hair placement... Noses and eyebrows give me the most trouble out of anything, besides feet. Lol. I'm weird. But I've looked at enough artwork to remember some things. I never could figure out the hair though... That's why I used brushes for the one I did make. XD I never thought of doing it one strand at a time.

heh well do be intimidated! the tutorial i made with that method is for regularly small pictures. ive used it on much larger pictures but its my method so its easy for me. if you do a flat base of colour, then do strands over it,you dont need to do so many and it looks pretty believeable. the best thing to make hair look more realistic is to soften around the outline with a few random strands. it does wonders

Yeah it looks like it would be pretty easy... It's hard for to do curved lines with my mouse though. And what do you use to smudge in the highlights? I'm can't find a tool to do that...

ah, since your using photoshop.. see the blur tool? you right click on it and it has blur, sharpen and smudge
in gimp its next to the blur tool on the toolbar
