Description
Photographer - Adam ChilsonEach month D.M. Gremlin Studios hosts an open house event for models, photogs, musicians, etc. June's theme was Steampunk. This genre has always interested me and the idea that a whole night was going to be dedicated to it made me bounce with joy. While I would love to have sewn a neovictorian/steampunk outfit, I settled for something less time consuming in construction. Next time I'll be more prepared as I have ideas forming in my head as I type this.

This looks gorgeous! I've got a dress like like and I was wondering how to incorporate it into the steampunk look, so thanks, you've inspired me.
I love your pose, and the costume is awesome.

This is amazing! Not only is the outfit great for a "first foray," but your pose works well with the costume and the background.

Here is a basic definition from Wiki:
""Steampunk fashion" has no set guidelines, but tends to synthesize modern styles as filtered through the Victorian era. This may include gowns, corsets, petticoats and bustles; gentlemen's suits with vests, coats and spats; or even military-inspired garments. Often, steampunk outfits will be accented with a mixture of technological and period accessories: timepieces, parasols, goggles and ray guns. Even modern accessories like cell phones or iPods can be found in steampunk outfits, after being modified to give them the appearance of Victorian-made objects. Aspects of steampunk fashion have been anticipated by mainstream high fashion, the Lolita fashion and aristocrat styles, neo-Victorianism, and the romantic goth subculture."

Props, background and attire all work together to create a definite Steampunk feel!
I've been a fan of Steampunk years before the term was coined in 1987. I hadn't realized how popular and widespread it had become until I found my searching online for an aviator cap pattern!

I mean it, you look great. After all, is it not called steamPUNK? I think that gives license to not be purely neo-victorian...
I understand not being happy with an outfit thrown together at short notice, but i really don't think this shot lacks anything dur to that. Looks swell!

You do make a very valid point. Most of the clothing I see in this style tends to fall into the neo-victorian category, as opposed to the punk style. I do admire elements of both and will hopefully have something more fully constructed soon.
