Description I was thinking lately, what if the so-called "ultimate" "Final boss" type (Dragon) has more type advantages? The more obvious ones would be the ones it already resisted, and it happens to be the starter types (Water, Fire, Grass and Electric). If this buff actually happened, how do you think that would impact the competitive meta? I know it may get op, but remember that the type has another type that is immune to it (Fairy) and another on that is super prevalent (Ice), and another one that resist it and is also super prevalent (Steel). Not only that, but the Dragon type would compared to both Figthing and Ground. Both types have FIVE type advantages but only three weaknesses (All of which are common) and very few that resist them. Not to mention that both have a type that is immune to them and have A LOT of good moves. And neither of them were OP, so what would be Dragon type excuse anyway?

OK, let's start with the obvious: a LOT more dragons in the metagame (throwback to Generation 5 lol). So much stronger offense!
But it's probably not to the point where they're broken and moving to Ubers/AG Land. After all, Ice and Fairy still remain extremely common offensive types.

Dragon being strong against Water would definitely make water a lot less viable than it is right now.
Water's main draw is that it doesn't have too many offensive weaknesses.
As soon as dragon is introduced, it's in trouble.

Electric would suffer heavily too, once again, because it's adding a huge offensive type (Dragon) as a weakness. A big draw with Electric is that it also doesn't have many weaknesses and is a common offense type.

Honestly, this change would actually make Fairies and Ice type better as well, because dragon types will see increased representation, and thus Ice and Fairy will check more of the meta. Alolan Ninetales wouldn't be bruised at all.

Yeah, that's the reason why people who wants Ice to be buffed by NERFING water type pisses me off so much (I mean, I am all for giving Ice more love, but not that way).

I see, if Dragons does get more advantages, they better make more better ice types (Fairies are fine as is). Also, steel would be their more coveted coverage, I find that funny that both the dragons counters are weak to the same thing, something that psychic can't do after getting nerfed (basically, it has to carry 3 different coverages to cover all three of its weaknesses, while dragon can only carry one not including its own stab).

People said that fairy has become THE broken type as of now. Apparently, this isn't the case.

Dragon type has never been strong bc of the type itself but bc the pokΓ©mon of that type were pretty buff...just look at how many 600+ they have (Dragonite, Salamence, Latios, Latias, Rayquaza, Garchomp, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Goodra, Zygarde, Kommo-o, Ultra-Necrozma, Mega-Char-X, Mega-Ampharos, Mega-Sceptile). Dragon as itself has always been the neutral to most stuff kind of type. What would definitely happen when Dragon type moves become like that is that any mon that has acces to dragon type moves will now use them for coverage, and there's actually quite a lot of mons who can learn Dragon Claw or Dragon Pulse. It would arguably make dragon types a lot stronger than they are now, as water, grass, fire, and electric are pretty common types. speaking of which. It would pretty much kill off grass types, giving them a sixth weakness. Water types will survive that with only 2 other weakneses and acces to ice type moves, however most water types will no longer be able to tank an outrage or a draco meteor. fire types will suffer from a 4th weaknes, but with 6 resistances they're still fine. adding a second weakness to electric types is not that big of a deal, most electric types are pretty low on defense anyway. however, M-sceptile, zekrom, reshiram, M-Char-X Heat- Wash- and Maw-Rotom, Lanturn, Ludicolo, Turtonator and Volcanion, will all get a double weakness to dragon type moves, which will be pretty common when they offer such a great coverage then. on the other side, this will also make fairy types pretty strong, which also leads to steel and poison types being around, and since stell also resists dragon, those will be pretty common, wich also leads to some ground and fighting types seeing play. For Ice Types, you need something that is faster than the dragons, So, Ice Shard will be pretty sweet, fast Ice types are pretty rare otherwise, Weavile will be pretty good, Froslass might see some play, maybe Cryogonal...but presence ot ice types also enforces Steel types...So...I'd predict a steel type meta, since steel is resistant to dragons, and also strong against the dragon-counters. that being said. I don't want this change to happen.

Yeah, I don't want Swampert or my favorite type (Water), to get another weakness, especially when I still recover from Freeze-dry (But on the other hand, I thought that move was pretty cool).
I wonder which dragon types will end up in Uber or Anything Goes if that change happen.

I don't care about Smogon tiers anyway, but giving a type 4 additional strenghts is just too much. my favourite type is also Water btw^^

My favourite PokΓ©mon is Dewott...and I love using PokΓ©mon in competitive battles that noone ever uses. I also made my very own tierlist. haven't played a lot in gen 7 though.

I stopped playing Pokemon since Diamond and Pearl unfortunately, since I've stopped buying consoles altogether. So I never had the chance to try the new type.

Fun fact, I never truly cared for Dragon type (Except that one time when Rayquaza destroyed my Swampert, I was so salty at him and even the type itself since then. And the fact that he became the most overpowered thing ever doesn't really help) until they introduced fairy-type. I thought the Dragon-type dynamic between its weaknesses (and resistances) was very interesting.

Nope. I personally think it would be too OP. Regardless of the type disadvantages being super effective against the elemental types is far too much.

Missplayer30 In reply to Mythical-Luz [2018-07-07 04:35:42 +0000 UTC]

Why having an advantage against the elemental types is far too much? Especially when Dragon is supposed to be deliberately the "strongest".

Yes, I drew this, I don't post drawings that doesn't belong to me, especially in this account. Besides, it's pretty similar to my older Pokemon fanarts.

Because that concludes 4 of the most basic types, making the game unfair. I thought that would be obvious. You also spelled "best" wrong.
