Ever since Joker was introduced in Smash Bros Ultimate, people seems to imagine the dynamic between our current SEGA squad akin to a Mother-Son-Pet. But what if our 3rd SEGA rep wasn’t Joker, but instead another character from SEGA. I’d like to see how the fans would imagine that dynamic that would be different from the current one. Here are a few of picks of mine, and imagining the possible dynamic between them.

Minato Arisato/Makoto Yuki (Persona 3)

Fun fact, back in Smash 4, I thought that Persona was one of those cool and popular franchises that unfortunately was not possible to get a rep in Smash. Because not only it was a Playstation game, but a spin-off. What kind of video game company would even represent a spin-off before a mainline? Especially when that mainline has more game on Nintendo than it. And I was thinking that if we ever get a Persona character it would be Minato, since he is an older character that represent the popular modern Persona, a poster boy for it. Fast forward, not only we got a Persona character, that character isn’t Minato, but the newest protagonist. He did end up as a costume, like Yu. But can you imagine if we got him (or Yu), instead?

I bet the fans (Myself included) would think of him as Sonic and Bayo’s son or something and make jokes out of it.

Kiryu Kazuma (Yakuza)

I have no opinion on him, except that he seems like a really requested SEGA character.

In my mind, the dynamic between them would be something of a love triangle (Sometimes one-sided on their parts). But I’m not sure how the fans would think of their dynamic.

Shadow the Hedgehog (Sonic the Hedgehog)

This is to be expected. He is the character that everyone expected to be in the game as an echo, yet he wasn’t meant to be. We got a brand new unique character from a different franchise instead. But that doesn’t stop fans from thinking he is in the game somehow. Alongside the ones we got.

But we can still speculate on what if he gets in Smash instead of Joker. In my opinion, if he was, the squad would be a parallel to Palutena and her two angel sons.

This doesn’t just apply to Shadow, however, but to any Sonic characters as well.

Arle Nadja (Puyo Puyo)

I was kinda surprised that she wasn’t chosen, since she was quite popular in Japan and her recent game came to the Switch. You’d think that they would try to pull a Fire Emblem and make her popular to the West. While I have no opinion on her either, the idea of Sonic having two fellow female reps sounds appealing, even tho I like Bayo as the sole female 3rd party character (There’s no Kazooi to me, just Banjo).

I can imagine either a love triangle or Sonic being protective toward his girls, and not letting potential suitors go after them.

That doesn’t just apply to Arle, but to any female characters from the SEGA library.
