Description
A set of arrows (one missing on the photo
) that I made a while ago. I still really like how they turned out (especially regarding that I was on an accidental, week-long bad trip -chemistry lab possibly gone wrong and then a trip to the pub - while making these), so I thought I'd share 
Sorry about the size of the photo. I like how the arrows look on this one, but can't seem to find the full-sized copy anywhere (I'll keep on looking and possibly replace this one).

Those are GORGEOUS. Did those shafts and feathers come looking like that? What did you use to wrap them with?

I know exactly how you feel...
I have a wooden recurve, two really nice sets of wooden arrows (including the one I made and never shot), an awesome leather side quiver and essentially all other necessary equipment but not a place to shoot. There are at least 5 archery clubs, but there's very difficult access to them and I can't reach them but in a car (and I don't drive myself of have a willing driver).
I spent some (short) time shooting in my old college fields, with an assistant principal as my coach (rarely, as he was a very busy guy) and i was pretty good at it. Now, I've not shot a single arrow for a year.
Every time I draw my bow indoors I have this terrible urge to shoot it - even though I'm standing in front of a closed window.

Speaking of archery clubs, I just did some reasearch on google and found an easily-accessible one close to where I live. Except that it's led by muslims and there is "COMPLETE MALE AND FEMALE SEGREGATION WITH SEPARATE ENTRANCE"

Can you imagine a headscarf getting caught on an arrow? I'd piss myself laughing. That's probably why they segregate them, so they don't have to wear those. Or maybe so the boys aren't *forced* to sexually assault any of the girls because they saw an outline of a buttock thanks to all that obscene... -motion-.

All that loosely hanging cloth was what I had in mind, too.. and aiming through that tiny peephole.
Hmh..then again, those dudes may not want to be around when badly-treated females got projectile weapons in their hands. I wouldn't.

A dream of mine is to one day get a a proper, top-shelf hungarian composite bow. Because I'm a girl and these things are absolutely, blastedly beautiful in my opinion. And handy. And light. And.... Ohhhh, I'll stop now

Oh yes they are..I've got an old aluminium body recurve bow I started with (which I haven't shot for over 10 years..damn) but then I got this obsession for that huge leg-assisted killing machine and for past six months I've been reading kilometers of theory for bowmaking. Looking forward for that proper ashtree bow and after that, crossbow.
Which really sucks is that I don't have a place to shoot either..damn city life x/

I have a longbow project going on (made from old wooden skis x/ ) and should soon start planning on the arrows for it.. never done those before.

Thanks, I'm glad you like them! They're the first arrows I've ever made and I really enjoyed the process. I have NOWHERE to shoot, so I haven't tested them yet...

Speaking about post-apocalypse.. my original goal was to make a HUGE bow, that'd be used same way as in the opening scene of Book of Eli, with the bow horizontally behind feet.
And it was supposed to fold for easier carrying.
Bloody skis just broke on my first stretch
So, now I'm making a solid "only 2 meters long" version first, and once I practice with it, I'll get proper wood for that killer thingie..

I have a takke-down recurve bow, but something that you could fold on the go would be fantastic!
You wanted to make a bow out of skis... Are you sure you mean a longbow and not a flatbow? That unless the skis were really thick

That was to be properly recurved, one I'm making now of the parts would be some kind of flatbow-longbow-bastard. It's quite, but not entirely like traditional Siberian two-layered bows but just straight.. so.. damn, well, it's made of skis, I'm happy if I can get it bent enough for a string, okay?? xD
