Dear, I am old in the photographic field (but young in art application of it). So photography is quite natural for me.
Before, I was more just taking and looking after what I will do, but going into series made me change my approach.
I dont know exactly what I will do, but I have a general idea of taking several shots together for something.
Not always, but frequently. In studio I start with an idea, and let it developp itself.

You are old in art field, you were educated in it. And you just aquire a new camera, that give you possibilities, but also questions of what to do.

I think in my case it is not a matter of a new camera or handling the camera in general. I think that I work differently, I mean my brain or my vision works differently.
You know, when I made costumes for the theatre, my best productions were those who had the lowest budgets, when I had to use other costumes from wherehouses or second hand ones… I don’t know how exactly, but at the end, all the costumes of every production looked as if I made them especially for this or that production… after adjusting them, they looked from the same “world” - palette, style, period, or atmosphere, and they succeeded to carry a message too (according to the play)… I think I work better from my “belly” instead of working from my brain…

So, it is why you are a painter (involving layers and layers of time and acts) and I am not : shooting is a thin time slice, a single location.
I started superpositions in a cubist phase, but there where of shots that where close, different angles on the same thing, same moment.
And my polyptich also are closely related shots, in time and space...

I like the distinguish you make between a painting's quality and a photography one.... (involving layers and layers of time and acts in contrast to a thin time slice, a single location) - it sounds so clear, that I'm amazed I didn't think of it before! thank you!

I didnt invented it, it is just I find it to be the true distinction for me, much more than the practical means of digital layers or manipulation involved.
I also feel a profound affinity with "sletkches" drawings, chinese painting also, conveiying instantaneity.

À un moment c'était un petit port de pêche, il y a encore quelques pêcheurs mais vraiment peu, les viviers sont un grand immeuble muré qui attent les promoteurs.

Ou d'une façon absurde. J'ai visité à St Malo un bateau usine à surimi. C'est énorme. Pour le surimi il ne prennent que le merlan, avec un quota. C'est transformé sur place en pâte pour surimi, ils récupèrent environ 30% du tonnage pêché en pâte de proteîne de poisson broyée lavée. Lavée à l'eau douce pour enlever le goût de poisson !
Je n'invente pas, j'en suis restée comme deux ronds de flan. Il embarquent plein d'eau douce pour ça. Et ces blocs de pâte congelée sont vendus à l'usine qui fait les batonnets colorés et parfumés 2€ le kilo. Moi je mangerait bien plutôt les filets de merlan, même congelés, mis à part les prix excessifs du poisson.
