Oh, my gosh! I finally got this done!
At first, this picture was just a little sketch of the solar system that I have dreamt about. I was thinking it would be a simple layout of all six planets and the blue dwarf star. Well, I was quite wrong. It turns out that my creative side got the best of me... and it FORCED me to make it look as if it were a real space scape. But yeah.... Here is the final product.
Let me start off to say that (except for the nebula and the ice planet textures), I HAND PAINTED every single star in the star field, asteroid, and star effects. Yes... I did say the star field... I absolutely dislike seeing an 'easy way out' by using noise to fill in for stars and lens flares. In my opinion, they are ugly looking and it causes the picture to look very bland and repetitive. So, I took my sweet time to lay out every dot in not only size, but of brightness. It took me a very long time until I was quite satisfied.
The rings. Oh, my gosh, you have no idea how frustrating those freaking rocks were. Now, I could have been a lazy-ass and use "Filter -> clouds-> Twirl" and go on from there. No, no! I decide that I should hand paint every one. (at least for this one the others I may not). Why did I hand paint every one? The reason being is that the rings surrounding the ice planet is not as fine as Saturn-type rings. They are much larger and in less quantity. As some of you may notice, the rocks are layed out in such a way that they form their little own ring segment. That is purely intentional and not clustered. I think it looks much more nicer that way. I also added the ring shadow on the ice planet. (I wanted to make it realistic).
Also, the nebula in the background is a reflection nebula. It's not supposed to be uber bright (only reason it's visible is because of the light hitting the debris particles).
Last thing. If you're wondering what that green dot is, it's actually a gas giant. So, Don't think it's a star, now
**
Now, aside from my huge frustration of getting the effects and the drawing down, I want to give a better description of why I wanted to draw this.
This scene came from the many dreams I've had. There is a solar system with a blue dwarf that has 5 terrestrial planets (three dwarfs closely orbiting the star) and one gas giant. The farther away terrestrial planet (brown) is hot and contains canyons and deserts. The beings that life there are some type of bug-like humanoids. The ice planet (the one closest to the viewer) is very cold. It's covered in snow and Ice. There are deep chasms that lead to large cave networks that are absolutely huge in size. Within the caves, there are plant life that are in similar shapes to vines, fungi, and some kinds of shrubbery. The plants within the caves glow (some brighter than others. The caves are home to a race of lizard-like, technologically advanced, bipedal creatures.
The reason why I wanted to draw the picture is that I can give people a better understanding of what I see in my dreams and that they're very important to me. I'm hoping that the dreams that I've had could be incorporated into a graphic novel (I'm actually working on it! It's a slow, tedious process D: )
Anyway, I think I over killed with the description, but oh, well. Reading is fun, ya know
Enjoy! ^^

This must take place far in the future, since Blue Dwarf stars don't exist in the present universe, and won't appear for another couple billions of years. I admire the dedication you had in hand painting every single little detail, such as the individual stars or ring particles. The size and coarseness of the particles in the ring system would suggest that it formed quite recently, since the rocks would inevitably erode.

You could say that I get mesmerized quite easily when it comes to things like this. And I have to say, out of all the other space drawings/scenes/whatever they're called, this is probably the best one I've seen so far
Nice job.

OH MY GOSH and you did every single detail by hand?!?! Those asteroids... daaang.
I really love the glowy lighting you did on the planet. And you can even see the little lights from the plant life in the cracks... now that's cool! (and now you've got me curious as to what those plants look like XD)
This is beautiful!! So much detail in this... it's amazing!

Yes! Every... single... darn... ROCK! And every single star as well. It was a pain in the butt! XD
Maybe! I'll see if I can eventually make this into a desktop background. Hmm.. let me see what I can do
