dude this works so well with the unfinished background it's almost a shame not to leave it just like this!
If you don't mind me asking, I'm curious as to your choice of line thicknesses on the reins of the horse and how much thicker they are than say the lines on the outline of his hat - is it because they're closer to us (the reader) than his hat?
I ask because its an area I need to work on and improve my understanding of. any insights you can provide would be great.

no prob mate, YES, i make the lines slightly thicker for anything closer to the reader. its a really subtle add on to the lines, but obviously if you look close enough (like you did) you can catch it. but then again when im done, i almost always break all the rules by thickening the outline of the full shape anyways... its a catch 22. you just have to fiddle around with what looks best to you.
