I think the story was good the way it was, with the whole Jill ending up under Weskers control as a mysterious figure and presumed dead and Chris having to deal with this and later solving this mystery when he gets a hint Jill might still be alive.
If it was just Chris and Jill the whole game as partners, what the story would be then? Just them chasing Wesker?
