YAY! Aliens!After an incredibly painful alcohol induced headache I was suddenly in the creative mood, so I started to digitally paint over a scan of a painting I did at school (acryllics). The original painting was to try out different kinds of lighting.
I'm happy enough with the results, but I'd like more depth. My problem is that I don't dare take big enough risks when it comes to painting. I don't like being bold with my brushstrokes, even though I love contrasts and know their effect, I still cannot use them in a way that satisfies me.
Anyon out there with some constructive critique, a link to a good tutorial, please lend me a hand. I'd greatly appreciate it.

This is awesome, i think you should do some more to it, perhap, get the inner tongue with the teeth in there and get his arms and hands in there stretching out..

But you got some nice effects here
Maybe you should have tried to make the little critter/tounge thing shine a little bit inside of his mouth?
or maybe that is a bit hard when I think about it... XD

I don't like the little mouth inside. It makes the alien look weird when I draw it. But rest assured. I'll be drawing more aliens in time.
