Description
©2008 Sarah B. Seiter - - Do not use without permission - Colored Pencil 11" x 14"Another geisha fairy lol I think I am addicted
The scanner kind of ate it, but I was able to salvage it pretty well. The original has much more depth.
This was another experiment with using a limited pallette. This one consists of two reds, black, white, and a gray, then a blue for her eyes.
I find it difficult to limit myself, but I really like what other people can do with just a few colors, so I am trying to expand my style a little

I love your technique!! Colored pencils on colored/dark paper... Her expression and features are what most caught my attention... and her ear reminds me of bat's ears, what makes her look more "wild" somehow, as a fairy, contrasting with her geisha costume. Love it, and I love the colors you used.

I use Prismacolor pencils on either cardstock or mat board That way I don't have to color the background much

Oh man that is stunning! Love the limited pallete.. reds and black always comes out so dramatic and almost sinister... just awesome!
Also, cuz I noticed you did use a ref for some of these- if you need any more poses or anything w/kimonos, we have a ton over at *HiddenYume-stock in our "Asian/Geisha" album [link] We got really lucky and have been doing a bunch for the designer's website so we're always adding more!

Thanks I like to try new things and there are a couple of artists I have been admiring for a while now that use a limited pallette. I am back into a oriental kick as you can see
