Description
*laughs* Oh this poor shirt. This is its fifth incarnation, and I'm only now happy with it.It was a free shirt from Ohayocon 2004, which I got free in 2005. It was a shapeless tshirt, though, so I rarely wore it, except when doing yardwork or other such dirty things.
When my mom and I got together to tie-dye some stuff, I decided to tie-dye this shirt because it was getting kinda gross and spotty from all the outdoors-y stuff I'd done in it. So it was dyed but the front graphic made the blue look plain, so I wasn't very happy with it, only really liked the back.
But, it seemed a waste not to use something I'd dyed, so I started using it as a pillowcase. Which would've worked, 'cept the shirt was too short, so my pillows were constantly falling out of it. I eventually got mad enough at it to take it off and use a real pillowcase, but it still seemed a waste to not use the shirt ...
... so I chopped the neckline out and started wearing it to sleep. Chopped the hem off too because hems are really useful, I figured I could cut it off and put it in my scrap box, use it some other time.
Yesterday, I got up and felt the urge to mod a shirt. I have a shirt from the college that just hired me, and I was thinking of mod'ing it, but I didn't want to do that to my new shirt without trying it out first. So little tye-dye, which I had been wearing to sleep in the night before, got to be the guinea pig.
And lo and behold: a shirt I like and can wear in public.
One of the easiest mods I've done, and one which I came up with myself, this is SUPER-EASY. Chop out the neckline and hem, slice up the sleeve, bunch each shoulder, cut the hem in half and use it for the ties. And boom! Shirt!

The picture really doesn't do it justice, but it's one of my favorites, too. So comfy!

I so want to do this with you! We need to have our t-shirt mod party. I also need to get people to buy JCon t-shirts.

THAT REMINDS ME I need to give you the money and list of who ordered what, etc., tomorrow.
We should TOTALLY have a mod party. If you're free Saturday, we could so do it then: you can come out and have some food with us, then we can chop t-shirts into something awesome.

Thanks!
It's really super-easy. I'm going to do the same to the Felician t-shirt I got over the weekend ... would you like me to make a tutorial while I make it so you can have a pattern?

L-LEGASP! YES PLEASE! Also, cleaning out around here, I sort of found something I ought to have sent you AGES ago (I'm not a vindictive keeper of presents, I'm just horribly lazy and forgetful, I swear)--so when you move into your new place, PM or IM me your new address okay?

*laughs* Happily! I would be most delighted to make a tut for the shirt.
And awesome! I will let you know as soon as *I* know what my address is. So far, it's "that one place near that one sushi bar in NJ." But I don't think that would work very well. XDDD

not sure how i like the fluttery sleeves, but i really like the waist ties and boatneck. i probably would have done the one where you do slitted sleeves with this. ^^

The fluttery sleeves are the best part of this shirt, actually. They're super-cute. ^^
