...Because Hellboy's has to find SOME way to amuse himself on those long trips to wherever the hell they go. XDDDDDude, WHERE is all the Hellboy/Abe love??? These guys are my fav pairing in the series, and yet they are so ignored! T_T

Hahahaa, there's so many screw-ups in this drawing. XD For one thing, I couldn't for the life of me find a reference for Hellboy's hair at that angle, so I basically just made a blobby shape. XDDD I forgot Abe's goggles, and I screwed up his neck thing. XP Also, I didn't really notice until I saw The Golden Army that Abe is actually TALLER than Hellboy! o.O Or at least he was in the scene when they welcome Johann... But man, Hellboy really isn't as big as I thought he was. I guess he just gives off an aura of being really huge until you see him standing next to a bunch of people. XD And finally, what the hell kind of gay train are they on that it has pink seats and wooden trim? XDDDDD Hahahaaa, I fail.

2. While there are things that could be improved with this (my biggest pet peeve being Abe's head and his height), it's still one of the most wonderfully drawn red/abe pieces I've seen.
I watched Hellboy 2 again today and was suddenly struck with what seemed like divine inspiration; Red and Abe have a dynamic together that has a lot of potential, and a friendship that runs deeper than the movies let on.
And seeing this pic really made my day! ^_^

Lucky for us, both movies are on DVD right now (Extended Versions! Director's Cuts! Letterbox! etc.!), as well as the two wonderful animated Hellboy movies (art design by Cheeks! He's here! Look him up! Go now!). And HB in the comics is supposed to be like 7' tall, but Ron Perlman (the actual actor) isn't even the 6'5" that they say the live-action universe HB is (I don't think Ron is...? someone know for sure?). Yeah, he just has a "big presence", and the thing I like about him (among other things) is that usually, the more make-up he's wearing, the better a character (more heroic, etc.) he's playing. Anyone ever catch the Beauty and the Beast TV series, where he played the romantic lead, Vincent? Awesome.
And as far as "slash" stuff goes, usually it's between enemies, I've found, but you're right, there's nothing HB/anyone but Liz-wise out there. Oh well...maybe everyone thinks he's waaaaaay too het to pair?
