Never use sketchup. It's easier to use but once you export it to another program it will want to kill that other program slowly and painfully.

I like how the world is bright and shiny at first, kinda like a tinted lense on a camera. The last panel has such a nice contrast to the past to give us the moment of "awakening".
and yes while there was a bit of a snafu with communication we still got a nice result. ^w^

Yeah, you were right in your guess, it's indeed some sort of dream realm. The style is also trying to emulate the original manual concept art. (Plus gameboy had a really bright art style to compensate for the dark screen).
