Description
The familiar rustling of dry leaves under her paws sounded like a hunbrum symphony. It was dark, late in the night, and it was in times like this that Misty cursed her uncommon diurnal behavior. A fox is most active by the dawn they say, but she defied nature by staying up past midday, and forcing her sleep in the middle of the night so many times that her 'inner clock' was a complete chaos. She was the one to blame though, she had so many plans, travels, adventures that required daylight that she couldn't be limited by her sleepy eyes.
Now there she was, walking alone at the second watch of the night on the path of a forest, barely holding herself up. She had spent the entire day by the complex of waterfalls that flowed not much distant from there. It was a wonderful day for sure as she had met new friends, learned new things and had so much fun. Truthly a memorable adventure for her never-ending collection, but all good things come with a price.

Just for starters, her pelt had taken the full dawntime to get dry and the cold made her shudder a lot. The companions she made along the day went for their places to rest (keep in mind, most of them were diurnal) and she was left alone seeking for the remanants of sunlight.
But she was okay with that, the dawn was her most favorite part of the day, and a little cold didn't steal the joy of admiring the sky change its lights until they went completely out. A deep black blanketed the sky speckled with pretty shiny spots, it was time to go.

After eating the last fish from the fishing marathon she wandered into the wood path to go back home, having bid her goodbyes and promising new encounters, of course.
Now all left was the long walk for home. Alone, cold and unconfortably tired... now that bothered her.
It wasn't simply by the complaining paws, as the singular ache was something she was used to by now, but her own mood morphed after a certain exhaustion limit. Her optimism and energy turned into a boring and sleepy mess, and even the smallest thing could be a reason for a dry snap.
Thankfully she was alone, as the only thing that could stress her was either herself or the blue monotone foliage that guided her path.
And her tiredness, of course.

Tinta had already pointed out that she had a somewhat short temper, although she denied it vehemently. It as true, Misty wasn't one of the most understanding creatures around, but she was good at overlooking too... if she had energy for that. Perhaps that was the reason for good part of her mood tantrums, she supposed, bypassing a largue rock to her left and to her dismay bumping her face on a tree.
She growled with a childish fown, reaching a paw at her nose before clumsily resuming her walk.
After a few minutes another trip on a fallen branch made her consider the possibility of lying down to rest, but her stubborness took over and she shook the foliage off from one of her paw hind paws.
Not much time later, though, she found herself stopping for a second, her legs folding apparently by themselves.
"Okay I give up..." She murmured and despite her internal anger, laid down and turned to her side by a tree, not even bothering to take out her bag as she drifted into a deep, dreamless sleep.

The next day came perhaps too fast, a soft chattering of birds above the treetops bought her into consciousness and she rolled on her belly with her eyes still closed.
She refused to open them, despite the convenient shadow cast by the massive trunk. She just laid there... the epitome of laziness.

Hey guys long time no see! Sorry for the lack of activity for the last weeks, I was busy with other things as usual... and working on this picture here! I like it when my drawings are inspired by stories, I feel like they have more meaning this way, other than oh look it's just misty doing this or that... I want to invest more time on my works, even if that means being less active here.
Actually, I am proud of this story and the picture illustrating it. The ideas came suddenly, and I worked developing them on my free time though the last few weeks.
If you have the time, I'd love to hear feedback on my writing as I want to develop my skills and hopefully portrait my characters better :3
About the drawing itself, nothing much new, except for another try with painted foliage... I finally feel like getting the hang of this
