Description
Manananggal is a creature from philippine. It is said to take the appearance of a normal human at day, at night the manananggal severs itself from its waist then flies into the darkness to search for its prey (mostly consists of fetuses)

From the stories I've heard growing up, a manananggal is usually defeted by the method of spreading salt onto its lower half (in other stories its mixed with ash) so that the manananggal cannot return to its human form (either it starves to death or desintigrates by sunlight).

Manananggal is one of the many philippine creatures that usually appears in modern media such as movies, comics and stories told by adults to the children (wich gave me tons of nightmares up till now).
