As was mentioned up above, the original drawing and line work here was done by `alohalilo (Chris Sanders). He did this incredible composition, but it was left uncolored. I saw this thing and heard it screaming to be dipped in a few paint buckets, so I sent a note to Mr. Sanders asking him if I could color it. He very kindly agreed, and this here is the end result!

Probably the only thing I like about my coloring job here is part of the bed and the girl. Other than that, I'm not too crazy about how my work turned out. I definitely need more practice. However, it was a very fun composition to color, and I enjoyed myself immensely!

This piece is actually unfinished. I do intend to color up the background so as to make it look more dramatic... and to make the highlights on the characters stand out more. Speaking of light sources, I completely screwed up on that. If I was to have done this thing properly, I would have had either some backlighting or would have had the light source come up from the floor instead of in the top left-hand corner. As it was, though, I'm used to lighting things as if the source of light was coming from one of the top corners or from the side(s). It's a bad excuse, but an excuse nonetheless. I'll get more bold as I improve as an artist, I'm sure.

The girl's hair gave me the most problems in terms of coloring, but the monster gave me a hard time, too, as I just couldn't figure out what hues to splash him with. I finally settled on a combination of orange-browns, although I'm still not certain if it really works.

Credit must go to my mom for giving me a few pointers on which appealing colors to choose from. Although I only called her in two or three times for assistance, her advice was very valuable!

Although I am uncertain as to how long this took to complete, I do remember that the girl alone took about one hour to color. Was it worth it? I'll let you guys be the judge.

Edit: Eh. The creature is too dark, and there are so many other things wrong with the composition as a whole in terms of coloring. Oh well. Practice makes perfect....
