Description All right. I'll admit it. The Once-ler is... kinda cute.

Once in a while, I'd see this guy crop up as fan art, but I never understood why until I saw the feature film, The Lorax, and drew the character for myself. That being said, I will also admit that I didn't think that the production itself was that great at all. I give it a C+, and that's being kind. I have my reasons for giving it such a low grade, which I'll probably explain in an upcoming journal.

In any case, enjoy these Once-ler sketches, all of which were copied from screen caps from the film.

I haven't seen anything of the movie except for some screenshots, but I gotta say this guy looks cool! I really like your style, especially the soft lines, they make the characters appear so... lively! Not to mention the way you draw humans is really great, too, and I wish I could do the same.

Yeah, it's nice from an aesthetic standpoint, that's for the sure, and the designs are appealing. If you're gonna see it for anything then see it for the look of the film.

Aww, gee. Thank you so very much! Don't put yourself down, by the way. As artists, we're constantly learning and growing. You'll get to the point I'm at and will continue to go beyond that if you keep on practicing!

I'll remember that. Though I don't think it even got released over here already... so I must wait ;_;

You're very welcome, and thank you too for the reassuring words.

YES!! Though I kinda agree on the production being a C+ or so, I STILL CANT KEEP MYSELF AWAY FROM THIS FILM!!! LIKE...I'M MAGNETICALLY DRAWN TO ANYTHING RELATING TO DR. SEUSS (and I'm ok with this )

And also agreed that the Once-ler is cute <3 Idk he has a nice charm to him AND ALSO VOICED BY ED HELMS <3 so that gives him extra points.

these sketches are, as the once-ler is, CUUUUTE~~~~

Ha-ha! I kinda figured you'd comment on this.

WOO!!! It is very nice to look at, I gotta say, and the Once-ler is pretty adorable. As for Ed Helms, I can't remember what else he's been in, but he sure seems to be pretty popular! Ha-ha.

Thank you so much!!

yes!

I know Ed Helms from the US version of "The Office" on NBC and "The Hangover" movies (Though I like him a lot more in "The Office") though he's done quite a bit of other things too~

Heheh.

Oh, yeah! That's right. Unfortunately, I've never watched "The Office" (I really need to get into that show), but I do remember which character he played in The Hangover, I think. Coolness.

He looks so nice (: the bottom on is my favorite. May I ask how long it takes to do these kind of things?

Mitch-el In reply to rememberingthelights [2012-03-20 05:19:31 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much!

Hmm. It kind of depends on how much detail I decide to do, but for sketches like these it usually takes me anywhere from ten to thirty minutes to do one drawing, although that's more of an estimate, as I hardly ever time myself when I draw.

That's cool (: not as long as I would have guessed. Thanks for telling me (:

Ha-ha. Yeah, several years ago it would have taken me an hour or more to do each sketch. Practice makes perfect. Oh, and you're most welcome!
