That's not the Legendary Pictures design, that's the design that Stan Winston made back in 1994 for the original American Godzilla movie that was supposed to be directed by Jan Debont (Twister). However, Tristar pulled the plug on Debont's Godzilla project because it would have costed the studio too much money and they eventually handed the project over to Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin (Independence Day). Ironically, Emmerich and Devlin's Godzilla ended up costing as much as Debont's proposed budget and in the end, the film utterly sucked!
Bottom line, that's not the Legendary Pictures Godzilla design.

And it had the writers of Pirates of The Caribbean. And I heard a rumor that Jerry Goldsmith was considered to do Debonts Godzilla.
