Beautiful! I don't think I would have been satisfied with a happy ending--I personally found Shepard's sacrifice cathartic--but it's still fun to imagine what it would have been like.

Yeah, I can definitely get that. I remember the first time I finished ME3 I scoured the Internet to try to find what option I missed to make Shepard live after the Destroy ending...only to find that that puff of air at the end was supposed to be it.

I hoped for happy ending too, but Bioware is mean.

Even if we don't get a happy ending, at lease Bioware could have given us an epic and satisfying sad ending.
Maybe with all the allies and war assets that you collected making a desperate last stand on Earth surrounded by Reaper forces, with Harbinger taunting Shepard in the background. Telling you how all your efforts were meaningless, how have failed to save everything you have fought for, and that everyone who believed in and followed you are soon going to die.
Shepard and his/her love interest then look each other in the eye, accepting that it's the end and silently hug each other tightly and one of you whisper 'We will die together.'
The trilogy will end in an un-winable final battle, with you and everyone else making a heroic (if tragic) last stand as you all proven cover for Liara and the science team so that they can seal an information archive for the next cycle.
