Description "Winter Solitude" ... "Naiades"

(A part of an Elven series of the four seasons. Each piece has two titles, one being the season and the other being the Elf's name.)

She continued to wait all alone,
waiting in all her splendor,
in amongst cold lifeless stone,
still she refused to surrender...
...Then one day the world sparkled with frost
and on that day a flower cried,
for she knew that all was lost,
just before she withered and died.

I thought I commented on this, but maybe that was just in my head. I love the placement of the girl directly in the middle of a void, it draws attention to the subtle lines of her figure, and the solitude of her being. The shading is wonderful- and the one red rose is truly poetic. What does it mean?

The butterfly adds a sense of intrigue and hope, like there is something more around the girl that we cannot see.
