Is there a reason some of your weapons are named after melons?

Its a nickname the pilots have given them. D.E.W. stands for Directed Energy Weapon, and they shoot out bursts the color of a honeydew melon so they nicknamed it the Honeydew. The melonballer lobs roughly melon shaped green projectiles, so same deal there.
