To be honest yes I needed 2 year to got my level with flash
But there are other awesome things to do with flash for designer too, so some thing requiere programming skills and some other like animation, etc... don't need it

Could you tell me what code you used to upload an image, 'cause I would use it so the people who play my game could uplaod their own player images, but I don't know how

Hello to load an image in actionscript 3
you need to use a loarder like this line :
var contentImage:Loader = new Img_loader();
next you need a to creat an URLrequest
var image:URLRequest = new URLRequest("url as a string");
Then you load the file
[link] (image);
to finish you could add the "contentImage" to your current MovieClip with the method "addChild"
