Description I've spend days watching video tutorials and this was my practice for what I have been learning. I'm pretty proud of it but there's still much improvement to be done!
I hope you guys like it too :3
The right eye isn't close enough to the nose!!! T.T that one bugs me... and this is shinier than I'd like but it's a great practice result imo!

The folds in her clothing look really great, and the proportions all look very natural and well done! Awesome job!

Oh wow, amazing! I would never look at this and think you were a beginner. There's always room for improvement, as you say, but the quality of this first attempt is outstanding! You definitely should be proudβ€”I'm proud of you, Amy dear! I can't believe how smooth the shading is on her skin, and you managed to bring definition and contrast to her facial features very, very well. I wish there was the same structuring in her hands, but that's not where your focus goes anyway. I love the blends on her sweatshirt, and the bit of texture/stitching in the bunny ears. XD

Honestly, I don't think this is shiny at all, not like some other artists highlight and paint. Overall, I think it's pretty matte, which makes it look more realistic. Great color palette, too.

Man, with only a few tutorials under your belt! You're off and running, gurl. Keep going!Β  Β Β Β

I am super duper proud of this and because of how my head works, I always remember it looking worse than it is, so every time I look at it, I'm pleasantly surprised all over again.

Haha yeah, unfortunately, I feel the same way about the hands/arms but my studying was mostly focused on how to make shading look 3 dimensional using at least 4 values (not sure this is the right term...); highlight, midtone, shadow and reflective light and studying the planes of the face & how light & shadow interacts with it depending on your light source (god it sounds so technical when I say it like that). So I didn't study much on hands or other body parts. I'm amazed that I was able to make neck/upper chest region look ok (I was worried XD).

I find that the painting style itself looks very matte-like but that in the context the shirt would appear fairly shiny. I'd probably have to dull down the shadows a bit and it would look less reflective. I learned that the difference between a 3D matte texture and a shiny one is that shiny objects have the highlights and the shadows bumped up and I assume the colors would be a bit more saturated as well to accompany them.

Another trick I learned Is when deciding your colors for shadows and highlights/lighter areas, you need to either select desaturated colors for shadows and accompany them with saturated highlights or the other way around. Generally, you would not have like.. saturated or desaturated everything.
To summarize, I learned A LOT o_o if you ever want some help with these things, I could always try to help you out but I'm still learning myself :3 I just love sharing what I learn XD

Thank you so much for your encouragement, kind words and pride for me! I couldn't wait for you to see this and tell me what you think I was all like omg so proud of this I really wanna show Jenny and Tristan XD I guess that means you mean a lot to me :3

That's totally a great thing! I'm glad you could surprise yourself with how wonderful this turned out. Now you can look back and pump yourself up to do another, because with each one you'll get better and better. Which says a lot because this truly is amazing! My first digital painterly style was nowhere near this seamless and incredible. YOU ROCK!!Β

Do you think this painting style is one you'll continue to use and adapt? I remember you saying you liked the more expressive animation look and seeing sketchy lines (like Loish). I'm, like, so excited to watch you utilize these new techniques and skills and develop them into your own unique art. I believe your drawings themselves already have the Dawesome Style, your own characterizations, and you are really improving with colors quite quickly. Keep at it and you'll be at Loish-level sooner than you imagined!

Well, hands are bitch any way you look at it, artistically speaking. I can't even draw them, let alone color and shade believable. For what you did, they're not bad at all. She's just slouching and relaxed, so we don't need to distinguish her digits, not like if she were grasping something specific or flourishing anything. You know? Anyway, excellent try! Indeed, even her exposedΒ dΓ©colletage is well executed; smooth finish but with enough definition on her bones to discern anatomy.

Studying it again, I also love what you did with her hair. I love how you managed to keep a structured shape, allowing us to see an honest-to-goodness hairstyle. But you added some pretty fly-aways and wisps, and the highlighted crown looks quite lovely. And her lips! They're perfect!! There's an outline (lip-liner XD) and glint, and just very well done!

Yeah, a super-shine would be more reflective and have a bumped up color. I don't think that's the case with the sweatshirt, and it depends on the fabric, too. I just really love how you sculpted the folds, especially around the pulls where the bunny is stitched on and the contrasting shadows where her sleeves bunch. Wow! Just, WOW!!

Thanks for your offer to help; I may just take you up on that someday! And d'aww, seriously? I'm so honored you think about me so often, and on the same level as Tristan! I mean... damn, seriously? That's like a big deal to me! Thank you very much!! I am so, just whoa, so touched my opinion (as unskilled as it is) means that much to you. And very much I mean it, I'm proud of you, Amy darling!! Keep up the amazing artwork because I wanna see MORE~!! Don't leave me hanging!

Haha yeah, it just turned out that way even though it wasn't supposed to. I think it's just because I put high contrasts I'm glad you like it though! Especially since I hadn't really studied anything about painting clothing and mostly learned about skin & faces.

Ah, no worries. IΒ too paint where I imagine the shadows would lookΒ good at, rather than realistically where they should be.

Oh well I still used the same rules that I used for the face so I didn't just put them anywhere and I had a ref image It's just that I don't know exactly how shadow and light transition on clothing as much.
