Those who’ve attempted to interact with Rivo know first hand that any conversation is the definition of train wreck. Constantly tongue-tied, this cottony struggles with expressing himself clearly. His internal narration goes smoothly but the words become a mixed bag of various disasters when spoken out loud. Even his nonverbal communication betrays him- which makes him rather self-conscious. As such, he’s no stranger to poor first impressions and unintentional misunderstandings.

Despite being socially awkward, Rivo has a keen interest for other species. As a silent observer, he tends to spot the differences and similarities between all types. The smallest changes in people’s moods or behaviors, whether positive or negative, are something he also takes note of. He yearns to be the reason behind someone’s smile and thus strives to become more comfortable around others. One day he hopes to finally form bonds of friendship.

Rivo lived a sheltered life in a small community of cottony. He had personally never interacted with any humans so he knew very little about their lifestyle. Knowledge he gained about the outside world came from the stories his siblings would share. He had quite a number of doting older sisters and female cousins who would tease him every chance they got. It was common for these same family members to attempt to set Rivo up with cottonies from other communities- which embarrassed him to no end. As the years went by he found it increasingly difficult to speak up because others would do the talking for him. As a result, he never truly found his ‘voice’.

Even though the cold is an unfavorable environment for a cottony, Rivo had long wished to behold the beauty of winter. Upon overhearing his relatives discussing a festival called the ‘Crystal Light Fest’, in which magic protected all who attended from the wintry weather, Rivo knew this was his grand opportunity to make his dream a reality. With that in mind, the cottony ventured off in search of the magical place called ‘Dandelion Road’.
